Most excited you've been for Prince album or event? I got into Prince age 10 when Purple Rain came out and loved it. I then got the older albums enjoyed 1999 but was too young to really get into dirty mind etc.
Bought all the following Albums. Prince was on an unstoppable roll! ATWIAD, Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy!
The time I was most excited about being a massive Prince fan was hearing in 1989 that he was to do the soundtrack for the new Tim Burton Batman film.
Tim Burton had just come off beetlejuice and I loved Batman. I remember going to see Batman the day it came out in my home made Prince jumper. When prince's name came up in the credits people in the cinema cheered! It was a exciting time.....

The Parade album. Growing up in the Philippines in the'80's, I don't remember all his albums released there (I don't think the movie, Under the Cherry Moon, was released theatrically there) so when my aunt came to visit from the U.S., I asked for the newly released Parade album and was so excited to listen to it. She got me a cassette tape of it and a Walkman to listen it with! [Edited 4/1/15 12:27pm] "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I became a fan when When Doves Cry came out, so for me the event would be the Purple Rain tour and the album would be ATWIAD. TRUE BLUE

For me the year was 1994 and it was in NYC at the Palladium. VIP tix for Prince's reveal of new music during the Gold era. The place was intimate, say around 1500 tops. The stage was small and I was about 10 ft from the stage. The light's go out. People are screaming, standing only. Then spotlight. Prince is standing right in front of me singing Papa. He was so close. No stadium arena distance. No theatrics, just him and his music. I was super excited!

I have to say, the most excited I've ever been was for "Emancipation". I was on the edge of my seat... I had programmed a countdown clock on my computer at work, and every morning I'd see how many days were left until it came out. The morning it was released, I called in "sick" and went to work late, after heading to Tower Records (ah, the memories) to pick it up. And after a few days of listening... I was a little let down. I'm not that big a fan of the album as a whole, but the build-up was the promise of something wonderful... "The Dawn".
A close second is when "The Gold Experience" was released. I'd just moved to California, I was living with the love of my life, a completely new chapter of my life had started... and Prince had a new album out. I listened to that album all the time.

Event: house of blues aftershow in L.A. on Sunset. After the concert earlier at the Kodak arena on Holywood blvd I was certain that there was to be an aftershow. I couldn't get there fast enough. The excitement that built up between Kodak and the HOB was immeasurable and yet the show still exceeded all expectations.

The third and last night of the Parade tour at Wembley when I was 16. It was my first ever concert and even though I had the worst seats in the house, I was ready to explode. When 'Around The World In A Day' started playing and the curtain didn't drop I was just about ready to pass out. When I got my first glimpse of Prince, I was at quite possibly the most excited I've ever been in my entire life. It's all been downhill since then. But the bus tour organised by the Revolution fan club from London to Paris for the opening of the Lovesexy tour comes a close second.

Crap when he did when doves cry I nearly wept. When he stood on the raised stage the lights bounced of his kiss leather diamante shoulders. Wow

Musicology. I became a fan when I was 16 in 2004, and Prince was just making a comeback to mainstream culture again.

It's so nice to read a positive thread, and one that really gives a sense of the excitement that Prince generated back in the halcyon days.
The most excited I've ever been was when I saw him for the very first time at Parkhead, Glasgow, in 1992. My first ever concert. Sitting amongst so many other fans, by itself, was mindblowing...the playing of Sexy MF and the build up of what was shown on the video screens made it feel like the dawn of a new era.
When that tube rose from the stage with Prince silhouetted against it, then the lights flashed to indicate the start of 'Thunder' and everyone screamed it was just so intense. I'd pay alot of money to feel that euphoria again. "I'm much too hot to be cool"
