Emporium Glam Slam

These are two of the funkiest shows prince ever played. I can't get over how funky they are. 8 years later and every time I listen to them, I still smile as I hear something new.

Highlights:

First Night:
Race - Super Hero [including Girls & Boys] (better than any other live versions)
I Got My Mind Made Up - Skin Tight - Funky Stuff ("gimme 25!")
Get Wild - Get Satisfied - The Funky Design
Feelgood - Johnny

Second Night:
Most of The Undertaker album played in full
Johnny - Sex Machine jam
slow funky Days Of Wild
Glam Slam Boogie, leading to Sexy MF
P Control evolving into The Funky Design, including sax lines from Eleven and vocals from The Exodus Has Begun

The grooves just seem endless, flowing seemlessly from one to the next. Two of the best aftershows I've ever heard. I would love to have heard these on soundboard released by NPGMC - the cursing ruled it all out, though, I guess.

prince himself called it Emporium Glam Slam during the shows. Earlier in March, he rented the Astoria for a week, renamed it Glam Slam, and held parties there every night (including a show w/ George Benson and Chaka Kahn) - I don't know if Emporium had a banner on the front in the same way, or anything that actually signified a change in name to Glam Slam, but during the first show he says "Same time, same funky place, tomorrow. Emporium Glam Slam" as he launches into a funky jam of Johnny and Feelgood.
