It blows me away now as much as when I first heard it...that version of Something in the Water is out of this world. Still can't believe P had to beg the crowd to listen to his live version of When Doves Cry. Man, that's one performance I definitely wish I had been at...

I have the one with the Shortberry Strawcake/drum check opening. No real noticable fade or blur on my Something In The Water. To me it's the best sounding one out there. It's a FBG_4DF release.

If you look at the notes on the bottom of the back cover you see there was work done to fix it. I think it's a great job because it's not noticable. And I'm pretty nitpicky on that sort of thing.

Drives me mad that the tape had to be flipped in the middle of the most outstanding version of Something in the Water. Such an incredible performance. They did a really good job of fixing what they could on it.

When that boot dropped in soundboard it was the greatest thing I had ever heard as a Prince fan. It reminded me why I fell in love with his music as a teen. Erotic City intro, Noon Rendevous, Brown Mark's bass on 17 Days...

I was curious if the overall quality is far better than that provided on disc 2 of Purple Rush 5? I suppose soundboard would have to be a dramatic uptick in quality.

Yeah, it's a lot better, if you missed the soundboard release that came out a few years ago and are still listening to the aud I'd grab it as soon as you can, it's incredible.

It is a good show but not his best the Amsterdam ziggodome 2014 show is better release.I feel is playing as improved since then I think it is one of best thoughwith perfect sound. Montreux 2013 also is about as good.

No Prince concert from 2014 has a fucking chance of competing with the soundboard 1984 birthday concert. Just, no. NO. Stop with that nonsense.

ziggodome does not compete with it . it beats it easily. the recording is very clear for audience recording and i would take it over night before reign every day of the week .I honestly believe ziggodome 2014 was a better show.The revolution band he had were probably his worst in terms of musicianship. His band from gold experience era michael b sonny t etc were miles better. Also the revolution got better around sott era with sheila e and eric leeds added

He does play a unusual setlist and same with small club and i feel these are only rated so high because of this.

Its still a great release and from that era this and the benefit show are the the most interesting

if you were talking albums no way does is rescent albums compete with purple rain. But if he put days of wild back on gold experience i would prefer that to purple rain even though it flopped.
