Prince on Ani DiFranco's "Providence" I have never heard it until today. In 35 years of being a Prince fan, I dont know that I have ever been blown away like this by Prince's vocals. Just had to tell somebody.

The song is her typical cheeseball melodrama, but Prince is AMAZING on the the track.

I remember this. Cool song. "Dilate" was my favorite CD by her.

What makes this stand out from the dozens of his own songs where he's done layered backing vocals?

How great those layered vocals are, I suppose. What makes WHen DOves Cry stand out from the songs of his own without a bassline?

To The Teeth is an awesome album. I love how Prince, Ani, and Maceo appeared on each other's albums at that time. More of those particular collaborations would be great. And yes, the vocals on Providence are nice. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"
