Does this sound like a Prince copy to you? Hi, I'm new here, and this is my first post.
Ok, has anyone heard the song "If I Only Had A Brain" by MC 900 Foot Jesus? An experimental hiphop song from the 1990s (1994, I think).
To me, it has a very purple tone, much like the stuff Prince/Symbol was releasing around that time.
Take a listen to the song if you can find it and share your thoughts, if you like!

I took a listen. It doesn't really sound like Prince's music at all. Prince hasn't really used beats like that and neither are the vocoder and the rap parts of the type Prince has used on his recordings. The very thin-sounding filtered synth "bass" line is something that I couldn't even imagine Prince wanting to put on his records. There's funky filter action going on throughout the track, but Prince doesn't really use that type of elements in such a dominant manner. If you pay attention to Prince's production mannerisms, you should notice that he doesn't play the same funky keyboard / guitar riff throughout the track. Stuff like that appears only here and there, which is what makes it sound more professional anyway. This track is far more lofi in its approach, which of course is not that surprising considering the year it was put out.

Excellent observation.
We all hear different things when it comes to music. I personally always had Prince making faces (a la "Under The Cherry Moon" movie) to a music video to "If I Only Had A Brain" by MC 900 Foot Jesus. To make it even weirder, I could change the title to "If Eye Only Had A Brain"
