Not another one of these... thought it might be an interesting thread topic until realising it was a topic by Nuttynutmeg.

Let's just give him what he wants: Nuttynutmeg, none of us can compete with your superior music knowledge and taste.

I sense that Nutty has left the building if you know what I mean...

This gif rules smile lolololol

i hope the nutyynutmeg era is over.

I have never understood why people want to hear those jams stripped down to nothing but an accoustical guitar. I could see maybe stripping a jam down to just drums, bass, and handclaps for a little while in a breakdown of a song and then bringing the instruments back in, because that would be funky. But stripping them down to nothing but an accoustical guitar stops the song from sounding like funk and makes it sound country/westernish or even folkish. barf The last thing I want to feel like at a funk concert, is to feel like I'm listening to Buck Owens and Roy Clark on "Hee Haw" or a bunch of hippies sitting around a big ole campfire holding hands and singing "Kumbaya". lol

Andy is a four letter word.

What about the album "The Truth?" Mostly acoustic or the piano album from ONA? So many of his songs song simply gorgeous on the piano or guitar. They sound elegant. And I have to disagree with the last post. His arrangments never sound country to me. He has a master's instinct for the right melody and harmony and tempo. It always sounds funky to me. Even if it's a little watered down on one instrument. nuttynutmeg is certainly nutty!

So what?

Is your next thread going to be Star Wars would suck if it was filmed in black and white and didn't have any special effects?

Love from 3121 has a great acoustic version for example.

Not to mention Kiss, Tamborine, 4 The Tears In Your Eyes, New Position, Something In The Water,
all songs that are minimalistic as hell.

All of his acoustic medleys, whether on the guitar (Musicology tour medley) or piano (ONA, Lovesexy, etc.)
speak for themselves.

Uhm...no, not really, because a medley is just that: a medley. We haven't heared him do a FULL live version of any of those songs.

Oh my, aren't we the picky one? Is Nuttynutsack's way of thinking slowly creeping into your brain?

What are you implying? "Strange Relationship" from Dortmund isn't great because he does not sing all the verses?
Does "Sometimes It Snows in April" from the Musicology MTV special suck, just because he does a few bars instead of the whole song?

What does the length of the performance have to do with the matter of the song sounding good?

You can tell from any Prince acoustic medley if the song performed is great or not,
it doesn't matter if you hear just a verse and a chorus, or the entire song.

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams
