I may be a little late to the party on this one but I was reading a Prince related article from 2011 and wandered upon the following 9 rumors about Prince. Some of these I had heard before and others were new to me. I'm curious what's fact from fiction on this list I've highlighted the items that I'm unsure of:

1. Prince named Vanity "Vanity" after she rejected "Vagina." He pronounced it "Vageena."

2. Once, visiting Michael Jackson, Prince ate pizza with Bubbles the Chimp. The National Enquirer then reported that Prince had attempted to drive Bubbles to madness with mind control.

3. Prince didn't feel he was ever in direct competition with Jackson. Robin Power, who starred in Graffiti Bridge, told a previous biographer, "He felt he should be compared with Miles or Coltrane." (Draper adds in "[Davis]" and "[John]," just in case you can't follow that.)

4. As disgruntled ex-Time guitarist Jesse Johnson prepped to release Shockadelica, a solo album completed with no Prince interference, Prince rush-recorded and pressed a song called "Shockedelica." Also, Johnson alleges that Prince used to call him in the middle of the night just to say, "Jesse, your album sucks."

5. Mayte, Prince's first wife, claims she was never allowed to call him, even after the wedding.

6. Before she met him, Prince's second wife, Manuela Testolini, was an occasional poster on alt.music.prince.

7. That time Prince went proselytizing door to door for the Jehovah's Witnesses? He preached to a Jewish family on the night of Yom Kippur.

8. After the release of his third album, Dirty Mind, Prince and the nascent Revolution opened for Rick James. James later said, "I felt sorry for him. Here's this little dude wearing high heels, standing there in a trench coat. Then at the end of the set he'd take off his trench coat, and he'd be wearing little girl's bloomers."

9. In the early 1990s, Prince's management team showed him a chart that demonstrated that his expenses had gone way up while his income had decreased precipitously. Prince just flipped the chart over.

These all ring true to me.

1. Makes sense, there's a pun on the name. A terrible pun that was rightly rejected for something better but a pun nonetheless.
2. Well he visited MJ, who knows what happened.
3. I'd say so yeah.

4. He was known for prank phonecalls and working all sorts of odd hours. He probably thought he was being hilarious.
5. Mayte and others confirmed this more than once. You don't ring prince, he rings you. He probably means it in a 'i'm working, don't distract me' kind of way though.
6. yes.
7. Possibly, new to me as well actually. I still find it hard to believe he actually went door to door more than maybe once though.
8. That's in James' autobio isn't it?
9. New to me, sounds about right though.

I remember a rumor that Prince was infuriated that there was a newspaper article about him and Jackson (both of their pictures lined next to each other) and Prince's was horrible and purposely just 'eh' in comparison to Jackson's. I'd believe it's this one because the way that pic is placed there you could tell the author doesn't care for Prince

Good points. I've heard the last two a lot... about Troy Beyer. About the second one, it's hard to tell whether he just became quieter about his religion or gave it up completely. Either way, it seems to make the fans happy lol.

Some more I remember:

- He wanted to wear a bra over his eyes instead of the polkadot bandana-thing for the Glam Slam video but was convinced that he'd look like a loon

- Some model claimed he only wanted to bathe her again and again

- He used to play pranks where he'd dress up a scarecrow as himself so the person would think he's dead

Ok and I agree, you are right the pic of Prince is not good..

Some rumors posted here are right...Like the one for Kim basinger and the one for the girl in TWYMMF video, Tatiana something. He really dated her. in her autobiography, she even claim that at a party he came to her very angry to say he was really upset she gave interviews to tabloids to bash MJ, and called her a slut or something.

I watched tv in the 90's, there was a prostitution network that were judged in court. Many stars were named as customers, including Prince. But I have never found any clue about that after (I became really fan in 2001).

Another rumour, that Prince bought stocks of TMBGITW to fuck Warner and inflate numbers, back in 1994.
