Just want to point out that for prince to be a has been loser that no one outside of the org cares about; his high profile appearences over the last two months says otherwise;; that is all...;
Lastly, they arent pickign him for these things becasue he comes cheap [Edited 2/16/15 9:52am] |

The person is saying "if Prince was such a has been loser that nobody cares about outside of the Org, he would not be doing those private gigs. And they're not hiring him because he's inexpensive to book."

Well, according to recent reports, Prince charges more than anyone for private gigs (2million) but I doubt he was paid that much for the SNL afterparty since he only played LGC. I agree though, has been's don't get invited to play at these big events and they don't get standing ovations simply for showing up. Everybody stop on the 1...GOOD GOD! Uhh! |

How many of those people have bought a Prince record in the past year? Five years? Decade? Two decades?
.
How many can name a song released in the past year? Five years? Decade? Two decades?

There's a front-page article on Jezebel about Jimmy Fallon's recounting of the SNL 40th anniversary show. Fallon goes on for 9 minutes, dropping every name there is to drop. But of all the names he dropped, which one did Jezebel write about?
On Monday, Jimmy Fallon sat down at his Tonight Show desk and delivered a breathless recap of Sunday's SNL 40 festivities. You've never heard so many names dropped in a single nine-minute interval, but it's entertaining nonetheless. Sample line: "Dave Chappelle goes, 'Come here for a second.' And he goes: 'Dude, Prince is here.'"
It's a long, rambling tale but definitely stick around until the point where Prince appears in a cloud of purple smoke. The chance that Prince might appear in a cloud of purple smoke is the greatest argument ever made for staying at a party until the very end of the night.

Absolutely agree with RodeoSchro. It just ain't a party until the Purple Funky One shows up. Just the mere mention of him possibly showing up is reason to stick around and see what happens. An no Prince isn't on the same level of as other numerous other artists or for his work done decades ago. Prince is in class all of his own and he gets mad respect for who is now. Anyone who disagrees with this just doesn't have a funky bone in his/her body. I completely agree with the OP of this thread! |

I don't have a clue what these people have on their ipods, but it does say something that, even though he just got his masters back and can allow anything to be "borrowed", it was Plectrumelectrum that The Good Wife used, and Funknroll that Empire used. They surely would have gone for the instantly recognizable stuff if that's all they cared about? I'm just happy to see that he is respected in the industry because I believe he deserves that respect. It really is a bizarre situation. The musicians musician, and celebrities celebrity that Prince is. He just can't gain any traction with a song or album.

Who gives a flying fig about all of that except you? Good music is timeless and it doesn't matter if it's decades old. These people and tons more appreciate this man who is a true artist. |

Not when it comes to marketing his live shows. And that's where the money is in music.
Prince clearly gets an A+++ in Marketing when it comes to his live shows.

If Mozart showed up today, you know there'd be a group of people saying, "Pffft. He hasn't written anything decent since 1787".

Well, except the 3EG club tour where they had to slash prices by half and still ended up handing out a ton of free tickets.
.
Ditto for his concert in Werchter, Belgium in 2010.
.
His "21 nights" LA residency also had plenty of room on plenty of dates. © Bart Van Hemelen

Shut the fuck up. All we have done on this board is discuss the last two projects and for projects that received no radio play they had a good run on the RnB charts.
Event Lotus Flower stayed on the Album chart for a year .
You need to get off of this board and realized there is whole world outside of the org and your opinion. [Edited 2/18/15 9:40am] |
