Billy's Sunglasses Just listened to the full 51 minute version for the first time. Never heard anything more mesmerizing in my life. To play one song, off the cuff, for 51 minutes is unheard of. And the guitar playing is truly remarkable. I know he hs been getting more props for his guitar work the last few years, but the shit he broke off in this song is at once as raw, gritty, and beautiful as anything I have heard. Can't believe it took me this long to hear the full version. The man was absolutely put on Earth to make music.

You can actually hear the whole construction of the song from basic guitar histrionics at the start until he finds a riff and starts to develop it, and then the lyrics and the band eventually come in at the end. Truly a fly on the wall moment for fans.

I love how he does the work through of Strange Relationship at the end. "I like to watch."

There's no way I can sit through a 51 minute song and digest it on one listen. I listened to 20 minutes. That's enough, for today!
Ha!
I'll come back to it, later.

It only took me 51 minutes to hear it. Yes it's nice, but the most mesmerizing thing you ever heard? Really? He's got a lot better than that. Other than slipping in to "Strange Relationship" at the end, it's not really that groundbreaking a session. It is a fun listen though.

LOVE this jam, hypnotic.
Has anyone ever established when this is from? Obviously it's from Purple Rain era, but do we know the dates? Do we know anything else about this rehearsal?

The middle is hypnotic, the keys, the guitar and the drum beat sync beautifully. It sounds strangely melancholy and reflective. I cut it down to just the 19 minute to 31 minute section and it is really quite mesmerising. If Prince had released a middle exert like this as a song, it would be one of my favourites. Great song for cleaning the kitchen; refridgerator, behind the microwave, under the toaster, re-arrange the pantry, mop the floor, etc! What?

Heard it for the first time yesterday. For a long jam I prefer The War. But it was interesting to hear the process of trying to create something from a jam session.
