As far as I know, there was never a SACD release of Purple Rain. What a crime. I have the SHM-CD which sounds fantastic but I think it deserved SACD treatment. Now that Prince has won the battle with WB, perhaps his career-long, grown-up, audiophile fans will be rewarded with a fitting and proper treatment of this and other Prince masterpieces.

Seek out the SHM CD for Purple Rain. I have a US and Japanese CD pressing and it beat them both with a high end set of headphones.

Otherwise the artwork for these is really great, and I think the sound is somehow a little better than on normal CDs..
