Yes, they were playing it in that scence for a long time. My ears perked up because it sounded like Prince but I wasn't sure. Actually, someone mentioned it in a previous post. http://prince.org/msg/7/413898

I caught it but I believe Terrence Howard is a Prince fan.
I have actually enjoyed the music on the show. Timberland is doing a good job. Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up

Yep. The Club seen. Prince was also mentioned that same night on the "Suits" episode on USA. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

I'm just catching up with EMPIRE now, and watched this episode tonight. The Prince track is very prominent-- it plays in the club, and is mixed nice and loud, and then they go to commercial. When they come back, they're in the club again, and Funknroll is at the party phase of the song (near the end), and they play the whole thing (that whole end part), without cuts, and the way they build the tension of the scene, it is like they edited it to the Prince track, instead of just using the song as fodder. Great use of the song, great episode, fun show.
