Sounds like she is referring to prince changing vanitys name from denise. I doubt that he actually tried to change missys name. Did he take it as a slight? Is that why he brought her name up in a future song in a negative way?

I took as Missy referencing Prince's name change in the 90 and not a slight at all.

Now Prince's line uhmmm, wel considering she lost the weight and look great it's debatable if it's a diss or compliment.

She's referencing Prince's name change not 'the Marrying Kind' or any other Prince song. It's not controversial at all.
