Oh, it's THIS version of the song.

You folks are out of your mind if you think this is from the PR remaster, and just as out of your minds to think that if the PR remaster is ever released, that it would have this extended version on it. A PR remaster will be exactly what it says it is, a remaster, which doesn't mean extended versions or outakes. Think about it, extended versions and outakes would compromise the spirit of the original album, and cater to hardcore Prince fans only, not the masses. WB is in it to make money, not to please a waning hardcore fanbase. [Edited 1/12/15 6:52am] "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013

It won't be 5-disc or larger. It has been discussed before. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. Nobody will give a fuck about that. .
. Nonsense. No bonus = guaranteed flop. This is their ONE CHANCE to get this right, because Prince has already shown that he shits on his own output three weeks after its released. YouTube videos that get pulled hours after upload, Lotuflow3r was abandoned mere weeks after go-live because it was a massive flop,... Hell, dude couldn't even be arsed to visit GMA to launch AOA and PleElec and has done next to nothing to promote the albums. Look at Prince's non-WB output: what is still available, and how much isn't? . . . Hell, go look at the four links in my previous post. Prince releases DESERVE that treatment. © Bart Van Hemelen

I threw it into Audacity and got it less piercing and horrible, after about half an hour of trial and error.

Do we have concensus that this is NOT legitimately sourced. I don't think it is, at all. This has been circulating for a long time as far as I can tell.

I'm sorry...can someone e-mail me as to where to look for this item? Thank you!

We do: it's just a better sourced version of what was already circulating, the fact that it has the same tape distortion at the same place shows that the original sourcetape is the same A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

How can you possibly know this stuff? Are you a Warner Bros. insider? I seriously doubt that the remaster is gonna contain just the nine songs that appeared on the original album.Fans aren't gonna rush out to spend their money on that. There would be no point in releasing a simple remaster with no bonus tracks.

I'm glad I read the entire thread before I went looking for this. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Common sense for the most part. Remasters get released all the time with updated sound, which is the norm, and why it's called a "remaster", not only that, Prince mentioned in an interview that it is simply that, updated sound. As far as fans not rushing out to buy it, AOE and PE are a prime examples, sales wise, of why it won't matter what is on the PR remaster. Fans will buy it regardless, sure a few here will take a stand and say they wont, but it is the 'casual fan base' that is being marketed to with this, and that is where the money is, not the hardcore fans. The hardcore fans bought AOE and PE, those sales were anemic, PR remaster would be no different, conversly, casual fans could care less about AOE or PE, but when it comes to Purple Rain, those same casual fans are the group that will make or break sales on the album. But really the point is moot since this will likely not see the light day anytime soon, I would not be surprised if we don't hear any more of this until the Purple Rain 40th anniversary. He certaintly has, but it's usually overpromise and way underdeliver, the list is GIANT. He rarely, if ever, plays something down in an interview only to have it surprise us later. Sadly, most of us know that what we will get will be a massive failure. Way too much to go wrong. The old Prince and Warners couldn't get much right after 1985 in terms of promotion and marketing, as it got worse each year. Prince and 2014 Warners have been listening to Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin'" a lot, and that's basically exactly what they have collectively done...NOTHING.
We get two cds that clock in a total of 93 minutes, when we could have had 2 cds filled with all the downloads, some extra songs...hell...label those as bonus tracks to mark the original albums as intended. Or, just edit the 2 albums into one 70-79 minute cd...but nope. We get 2 short albums, we get the "Lovesex That's My Jam" Girl....
We get no tour, nothing.
So for a PR Remaster? Yes, all of our hopes are probably way way off the chart. Just getting the original album remastered at the correct sound levels would be at least something...
But we may get nothing, or our worst nightmare: The box set we all want with overcompressed brickwalled audio that is mastered like Plect Elect. Where on volume 1 it sounds louder than the original PR CD on volume 9.

w-w-w-what was this? Hmmm..AT LAST some fucking great news!!! I gotta go to my bootleg spot! brb ok I'm back..this is definitely a clearer version (I doubt it's an complete remaster, due to the sound distortions) . By far this is the clearest version of it! A remaster would clean up some of those distortions, when the volume gets too high. Also, I don't hear as much bass as the official 4 minute version. However, I won't say this is the best version. The best version of Computer Blue is the 11:59 "Corridor" version. Not complaining though. Now does this confirm the Remaster of Purple Rain is gonna be released? NO! It only means it was being worked on. This project may never see the light of day, due to Warner Bros dealing with (yet again) ...a difficult employee...

What's tge difference between this and the corridor version? The wooh is on the one!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The corridor version is more polished. It sounds like the official version kind of polish, only longer. Prince also gives a corridor speech, and Prince does his screams in the background. It's by far the best version of the song! Remember the rehearsal scene in the movie (Purple Rain) when Prince walks in late, and Wendy and Lisa was a no show. The song they was rehearsing was the corridor version of Computer Blue. The song has also more clever musical breakdowns than the 14 minute version.
Here is the corridor speech lyrics: He didn't like living alone

Not asking for a copy - I was just wondering what bootleg its on?
