Review of Prince Discography from 2 websites

THe list is rather long and spans several pages, but check out the link if you are interested:

http://www.metroweekly.com/2014/05/prince-ranking-his-albums-bottom-to-top/

Another list:

http://www.stereogum.com/1685960/prince-albums-from-worst-to-best/list/

What I liked is the somewhat honest candor. Both list Purple Rain as the best.

My question is this: the popular choice for best album is Purple Rain with Sign O the Times a close second. In your opinion, why is one superior to the other?

Metroweekly:

I wonder....???

did the writer read my list here on the org? And then added the 2 Madhouse albums? eek

(It's nearly the same list).

first:

Madhouse are not exactly "Prince albums", these albums were "related projects".

second:

the For You and Batman albums are too low on the list.

third:

Purple Rain will be number one just very slightly ahead of Sign O The Times, imo because the PR album contains a rockier sound and also Prince's biggest hits. (LGC, WDC, PR, IWD4U).
