Frank Benbini and Fast Leiser are best known for their work in Fun Lovin’ Criminals, but after a series of successful remixes for the likes of Lily Allen and Coldplay under the side project Radio Riddler, the duo have decided it is time for an official album release. Having been inspired musically by Prince, they have opted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his album Purple Rain with a reworking of the seminal release. Having received his seal of approval, the pair are also hitting the road this December for a series of live dates. Impressed by the Ali Campbell-featuring rework of the title track, we decided to catch up with Frank and Fast to take them on a trip down musical memory lane.

FB: Its a mixture of Queen, Led Zeppelin and Run DMC, but Sign O’ The Times by Prince had a huge effect on me.

Wtf! Prince agreed this, but Sinead O'Connor is on it after all the shit she's been dishing out! Perhaps this is it. This is the remaster! Anyone got it - any good?

Seriously fellows, I don't mind a radical rework.

But Art Of Noise's kiss is Mozart compared to this joke of a groove. And I mean a lot.

UB40 Have some classic tracks. I'm massively surprised Prince gave his blessing to this. It's not really my kind of thing but fair play to them. If you wanted a reggae version of Purple Rain this is the album for you. (I still prefer "The Purple Album" Jay-Z Black Album/Purple Rain mashup.
