Turn Me Loose is an unreleased song, which was premiered in a live performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on 25 April, 2008. It was assumed at the time that a studio version would be included on Prince's next album, and a studio version was played on KJLH internet radio on 24 September, 2008, but the song was not included on his next studio albums Lotusflow3r or MPLSound. It is unknown if the song was ever intended for either of these albums, although there is some evidence that the song was intended for an unreleased 2008 album which would also include F.U.N.K.

Yeah, I don't really get the hate for MPLSound at all. There's a lot of cool stuff on that record. I spliced it with LotusFlower and made one rather kick ass CD.

Recording dates and studio are unknown, but it is likely that the track was recorded in 2008 - early 2009 at either Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA or 77 Beverly Park, Hollywood, CA, USA. According to an interview with Prince conducted by Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times, the song was dedicated to actress Kristin Scott Thomas, who played Mary Sharon in Under The Cherry Moon.
