Okay, I Give Up! Let's Forget Chemical Hair Relaxers!
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I think he just needs to trim it a bit. I will admit, it looks a little untidy, but nothing a little snip can't improve. In other news- that pic honestly looks like someone took a picture of his face from 1988 and photoshopped it over his 2014 body [Edited 11/22/14 15:58pm]

IMO he's going for a 2014 Purple rain era look. & Its much more preferable to me than some of the other looks he's been rocking this year.. [Edited 11/22/14 16:25pm]

^ Look at how beautiful his hair was back then. Not a strand out of place. This new whacked out fro is just all kinds of NO!!!!! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

What's going on with his bottom lip?? Looks like somebody else sucked them out of shape.

* Wow...really? So, hair that is not natural to black people isn't beautiful? One could argue that when black people straighten their hair they are showing themselves to be ugly on the inside because it is a sign of self-hate or not wanting to look like their natural selves because they have accepted the lie that whiteness is more beautiful than blackness. Beyond that, I think the new pic is cool as Prince is, once again, defying the notions of what people think he can or should be, which mirrors his musical defiance of what people think he can or should be.

* I agree with your last statement. Yes, we all know Prince has a big ass head, but this picture seems to make that big ass head even more out of proportion than normal. But, I stil love the 'fro.

Oh please, spare me! I've been saying for the longest that he really just needs those raggedy, scraggly, split ends cut off to make the fro tighter. In other words, if he's going to wear the fro, wear it right. However, what I cannot stand is people confusing "going natural" with "neglectful hair maintenance". Going natural does not mean that you stop conditioning. Going natural does not mean you stop getting your ends trimmed. And going natural does not mean you pull the back down with your fingers, throw on a gold headband and call it styled. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

he's def in need of a deep conditioning treatment ...the fro is looking a lil dry....

I did. .....Kidding aside, his lip does look awkwardly shaped.

This is a rock n roll 'fro like Hendrix had, y'all splitting hair again.

This is my favorite photo he's taken in ages. Everybody stop on the 1...GOOD GOD! Uhh!

He's the one splitting hair, his own. Prince is not Hendrix and this is not the 1960's. An end clippling, a hot oil/protein treatment and some moisturizing conditioner would not hurt him. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

* But, the problem with your position is that you seem to think that the symmetrical pattern is the style for everyone. Some people want a symmetrical pattern and some people want an asymmetrical pattern. Yet, with either style, there is no evidence that Prince has stopped washing or conditioning his hair as it looks healthy to me. And, by the way, just because hair is asymmetrical does not mean that there are split ends. Going natural means that one can wear a symmetrical or asymmetrical style. And, if one cannot recognize the asymmetrical style as "natural" and "beautiful," then one may have issues with natural African hair because asymmetrical is the natural growth pattern of many folks hair. And the same way that Prince has refused to trim or artificially shape himself to fit into other people's musical boxes, I'm for once glad that he's refusing to trim or artificially shape his hair to fit into other people's Euro-centric or self-hating boxes. Thus, the only people who cannot recognize "styled" as pulling down the back of one's hair with one's fingers and throwing on a gold headband is someone who clearly has some false supremacist notion that only the symmetrical pattern can be beautiful. Some people wear their hair untrimmed because it reflects their inability to be neutered by society; I never thought I'd see the day when so-called Prince fans, especially those who complain that Prince has become too conservative, would think that Prince's hair should be neutered to fit the false symmetrical fantasy.

That pic is fucking tragic. THE HEADBAND! That rat's nest! The augmented bottom lip. THE HEADBAND!!!! "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Yeah and then he KEPT his hair game tight for the next 30 years, with the exception of the Rave braids. I still cringe at the sight of those. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Okay Captain Facetious but honestly, if that were the case, that'd make it so much worse. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Oh I'd to be sitting here talking about all the goodies on the Deluxe Purple Rain but ummmm...all we seem to be getting are these Jimi Hendrix dress up time photos to talk about. So I'm obliging. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
