I've always loved Slow Love, here r my favorite lines:

----------------------------------------

The man in the moon is smiling
For he knows what I'm dreaming of

----------------------------------------

Let's make it last forever
For a hundred times won't be enough

I actually like a lot of the lyrics (whether Davis wrote them or Prince)--and several moments in the song. It's just the whole thing that drags.

There isn't a single song on Sign O the Times that I don't like.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

would be interesting to know how Carol King was involved, as she has a writing credit on the song.

i'd be a bit miffed he she wrote all the lyrics. ????

Matt Thorne answers this question in his book (pages 159-160). Carole Davis (not King) wrote the song. Prince's lawyers called her and offered to buy it for $25000. She refused and got offered a 50% share of the royalties. This time she accepted. So it's actually not a Prince song at all.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone bash this song. This is the song I had on the most repeat of that album, before I fell for the entire album. The concert movie is just mind blowing still to this day.

Usually when there's a "Sign 'O' the Times" song elimination thread, this and "It" are the first to go. A lot of of people look at these songs as filler, and I'm just like eek

chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

Damn, that's an eye-opener! I've been googling around, but can't find her version anywhere...

It's out there somewhere--I remember seeing the album in the racks decades back. It was cheap, but I didn't pick it up. So I've never heard it.

Apparently Prince changed some of the lyrics.

I always felt that this song would have worked really well in Under The Cherry Moon.Imagine Christopher serenading Mary with this song, just before they make love.
