Yes I can relate. I used to buy the new albums the first few minutes they were released. I would be there with the wrecka stow opened, if necessary.
But I haven't even listened to the Plectrum album yet and listed to Art Official Age about a week after it was released, and only one time. Just not very good.
So yes we have gotten older and changed a great deal, but also Prince's music is nothing like it used to be, quality wise.

I remember a time when,I would have trouble sleeping on the night before a new Prince album was released. So much excitement and anticipation! I like a few tracks on AOL but I haven't bought the album yet.Maybe I still will, but I'm in no hurry.

I still get excited even now and I'm 40 years old. I listened to them the weekend before they came out and still listen to them now. Even the weaker albums I listened to them repeatedly because sometimes if takes a while to grow on you. Some still haven't. There are really few things that take me back to my "teenager time", a new Prince album is one of that.

I wish I had never bought AOA or PlectrumElectrumjaculation............so, I wish I were you.

I second that. Buying these albums were a fucking non-sense, AOA have not even a booklet in it. Had I listened to them before I wouldn't have done that. The bad or good news of the thing is that nobody will ever release a Prince album anymore.

I've got AOA, but not PE. €45, that was too much. (although I happily spent €120 on Dylan's Basement Tapes. If only P would do something like that, but even a PR remaster in the right year seems to be 2 much 2 ask ) So yeah, the excitement isn't really what it used to be. That said, AOA is an okay album, not a waste of your hard earned cash at all.

I only like one song off of the entire project and thankfully I was able to purchase that one song from iTunes. Long gone are the days of my supporting his every ill-conceived whim with my hard earned cash...just because. I'll pay ONLY for what I actually like and want, not a thing more. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Have you ever saw a physical album, besides Prince with no booklet ? That's a fucking thievery.

It's amazing how Prince can release two so different records at the same time, Plec his most awful album ever and AOA his best in years Welcome 2 The Dawn

True, AOA is his best album in 4 years

The album is shit, except for 3 tracks. It's the first album I haven't bought, and I'm a hardcore fan since 1988. Don't support shit music. [Edited 11/24/14 11:12am]

Did you get the vinyl, or is it another case of Euro folk getting ripped off by being charged much more for the same product than with sterling or dollars? Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Ladies & gentlemen... THE FANS OF PRINCE!!! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I do think CDs are more expensive in Holland than in some other countries. €20-22(depending on where you buy them) that's something like US$25-30. And I only spend that on something I really want and I didn't find the 3EG stuff all that great.

Off the top of my head: Blue Rodeo's In Our Nature, the latest She & Him album, everything Arts & Crafts and Paper Bag records release, etc. I don't actually buy CDs anymore (I've switched to Vinyl), but I'm sure I could find many more if I dug through my collection.
And yes, most of those are digipacks - as is the industry norm these days.

A new Prince album is still a very exciting event for me, and that's from someone who usually listen to 2 new albums every day. There's no way I'll wait after the release date before I'll get 'em. What had changed maybe is how long I listen to them intensively. But that can be said for every record anyway: year after year I own more records, rotation becomes heavier and I get bored with listening repeatedly to a record sooner than I used to. However, a real crush can still happen: I've listened to the Lotusflow3r trilogy like mad for a good 4 months back then and that was only 5 years ago. I still listen to AOA and Plec on a regular basis even though it's not every day. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Only "local" albums ? I don't think a non-indie artist ever released an album whose album's weight is so light than AOA. [Edited 11/24/14 9:23am]

Blue Rodeo and She & Him are hardly "local" artists. Do you actually buy CDs people other than Prince? Digipacks have been standard for more than a decade now, and the lack of a booklet isn't uncommon either - pariticularly for albums released by Warner.
