I'll preface this by saying I'm a fan of the album but it's worth noting that Keith Murphy (the review writer) is a regular poster both here and on Okaplayer and a self confessed massive Prince fan!

I'm about as objective as u can get when it comes to Prince. And I'm no longer a regular around these parts because this place has gotten pretty dead and a bit daffy at times with little middle ground left (either Prince is the greatest thing since porn or he's a massive loser)....
I wrote an AOA review that came from my point of view. I'm not a big fan of Plectrum Electrum (it's thin in a lot of spots and its best song is arguably a cover...)....So I'm very straight no chaser when it comes to all things Prince. If something sucks I will be the first to say it.
The irony is it seems like some folks on this site are going out of their way to diminish any positive talk surrounding AOA. It's weird. People can think what they want to about that album. America and all that. But what I will throw shade at is people making it a felony to say something positive about a Prince album in 2014. On a Prince site no less....lol
I'm good people. I'm going to stay off those ORG landmines.....

I'd say thats a pretty accurate review of AOA. A pretty good cd. As a long time Prince fan I find it very enjoyable.

I believe that if all critics were exposed to the full catalog and the main outtakes/unreleased songs, plus the great soundboard recordings of his concerts, they'd had every reason to be massive Prince fans. There is just no one else with the musical scope and body of work he has, not even Sir Paul. [Edited 12/4/14 16:06pm]

That list actually surprised me. Lots of albums I wouldnt have expected there, but overall pretty decent. Actually looks like more thought went behind it than the Rolling Stone list. Change it one more time..
