I listened to PE many times with an open mind, it's just bad... As an over all album it's bad.
The rock is so stale and outdated... All the songs are stale and bland. WOW, Pretezelbodylogic, Funk N Roll... It's just bland.
However like I said many times, Another Love is one of my favorite Prince songs in the last 10 years maybe it's my favorite Prince song since his 90's output.

it's not a Prince song. does that help your criteria? the only reason he made an effort to play it on SNL is cuz of you and your like. i think "Wow" and "Funk N Roll" would have been more fun. Ahhhh, the distortion of it all... "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

Yea I know it's not a Prince song... But he made it a PRINCE song. .

It's a much better album than that awful AOA.

I wish he could create such a great song without borrowing so heavily from others. I was so frustrated when I found out what his "inspiration" for Colonized Mind was.

i'm pretty sure nothing you've ever produced or created in your life has ever made any list, bad or good. [Edited 11/29/14 7:34am]

If I'd have said this, we'd be 10 pages deep of people telling me that I don't know anything about rock and I'm just mad there's no Wendy and Lisa on it by now. [Edited 11/29/14 12:38pm] I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

TicTacToe is wonderful, and Whitecaps is really nice. Much better than anything on that awful AOA album.

Stale? its 2 guitars a bass and some drums. Do you mean it's not using Linkin Park style breakbeats and studio tricks? It wouldn't surprise me if Josh had experimented with some remixes like that.
It doesn't cover new ground but it thoughtfully retreds some of the right areas. I can see how someone might have expected PlectrumElectrum to have a much sharper edge to it - more like the rehersals that were released. Instead it's a melo 60s/70s influenced rock. I didn't see it coming but now it's here I like it.
WOW is pure Disney Rock but it's so well done I can't help but smile and tap my foot. PBL is (once you delete the intro) a driving rocker about being sleepy, which I guess makes it good for driving. Ironic... in a way. ATR is one of the weaker songs, but lyrically this isn't typical Prince, then again the subject matter is practically his matra for his career. PE is out of this world Whitecaps has echos of Parade, SOTT... W&L I guess. Nothing mindblowing. FYLU is possibly the least "Prince" sounding song on the album. Pesudo political rock, but not a bad effort. Boytrouble is obviously out of place - but that is a dirty funky bass. STT is a great little pop song. Not really my cup of tea but very catchy. AL we all agree is outstanding. TTT must have been a labour of love because the layers seem infinitely deep. Fading between Hannah and Prince but unless you're listening you wouldnt notice. Incredible piece of work. Marz wouldn't sound out of place on C&D A Classic "Prince-Rocker" almost frantic in terms of style and tempo. FunknRoll is again just outstanding. People don't make songs like this anymore. Thankfully Prince is happy to jump in.
All in I think this is a great album. I have every track in my current playlist. I think the Telegraph are bang on to put this album head and shoulders above AOA. I was surprised to see the headline but bloody well done them. The album sales are poor but this album deserves more attention than it got.

I love PE. I rate it higher than AOA. 10 out of the 12 songs are great. I still can't stand Stopthistrain and Boytrouble. AOA is good to start then drops off 2/3ds into it. IMO of course She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

The lyrics on Whitecaps sound like they were written by a 14 year old emo girl.

I don't care about the lyrics, it's all about the music.

It never ceases to amaze me how much org posters think their solitary opinions are the only ones that count. State your case and move on.. Change it one more time..

Not sure Plec deserves to be that high, but it is a better album that AOA. Hundalasiliah!
