Just to think he recorded this, Crucial and Adore in around the same period is rather incredible. I wonder if there's more track in the vein of those three.

It's a pity that Prince curls out turds like AOA when he has fantastic unreleased songs like Adonis and Bathsheeba standing idle. I'd much prefer it if he compiled "new" albums from the vault - on the assumption that he doesn't ruin them prior to release, like he did with We Can Funk.

Wonderful song. A song that only Prince could have written and recorded.

He didn't ruin it. The updated '83 version and the '86 version are equally good.

But the Graffiti Bridge version is awful, especially when compared with the unreleased versions (which are excellent).

Such a beautiful song... Just the concep and the sound is so nostolgic... Truley a masterpiece created during his creative peak as a musican and artist.

I think it ranks among his best songs, period. Absolutely gorgeous. How do tracks like this stay in the Vault while MPLSoUND gets to see the light of day?

Nope.

The "egg shaped thing" is a testicle and the "wire" is the vas deferens.

Adonis and Bathsheeba is a gorgeous song, much more than simply "bumping uglies", more than jus "nuts and bolts". Laws of attraction on psychosexual overdrive.

I never thought I'd hear anyone say they prefer the GB version over the '83 version. It may be the best example of P tinkering with (or in this case, completely reworking) a song to its detriment.
