So does anyone have knowledge of the total number of tracks that Wendy and Lisa contributed to Prince's recordings that never came out on the main 3 albums that were released? I think during their time it was Purple Rain thru the end of Parade...considered by most to be the peak of his prolific and most quality recording period. We know of the tracks on those albums...I believe its probably listed on the album credits but what about the non-released stuff that is circulating or maybe even some that isn't wide circulating but some collectors have and haven't released yet? Is there enough for a full cd or 2 that never came out or even more? I figure someone who ordered the vault book may have access to that info or something like it.

I don't think anyone will really know, especially because we don't know the full back catalogue

Also since Lisa was in the band since Dirty Mind we don't know her full contribution

In the last few months I get the full version of Adonis & Bathsheba, the 6.7.1985 Masquerade ball, the 4 recordings from the Flesh and a few others I want more dammit!!

Thanks for that info. I'll definitely go check that out. It just seems with the amount of recording he was doing then and stuff we know that we have heard that didn't make it to record that there's at least one cd of stuff to find.

What about stuff like Witness for the prosecution, She wants a place in Heaven, Wonderful Ass, Last Heart...stuff like that? Think it was all cut from either Dream Factory or Crystall Ball?

He had those great [Purple Rain b-sides] like "17 Days," a song I loved! He had so much material. That was probably his most fertile period. And really good stuff. I was disappointed that his funk songs like "17 Days" didn't make it onto Purple Rain.

I think my ears automatically heard it as a Dream Factory era sound because I was told it was from that period.

When I listen to it again, the sounds are definately 1999-Purple Rain

the guitar sounds, the cymbals, the synth touches

but a touch of something different that stands out

But it was pulled back up again by Wendy & Lisa in 1986 so I guess both are right

Listening to the newer/longer version of Traffic Jam, i think it has overdubs by W&L, and i don't like it as much as the simpler Prince only version. same for some of the other re-worked versions by W&L. Too much clutter covering up the funk.

I don't think so, this is pure speculation. She was exposed to a lot of new material and expected her favorite tracks to be on the album the same way we been xposed to new songs in 2013 and expected some of them to be on AOA or Plec. The fact that you expected expected, IDK, Fallinlove2nite to be on AOA and that it comes from the same set of sessions doesn't mean it was ever considered for the album. Maybe it was but we don't know this. Every possible song from 1983 and early 1984 may have been considered for PR for all we know, but without any tangible factual indication that it was, I believe it's pointless to try and jump to conclusions or hint that it could have been the case.

Since it was supposed to be about Vanity, after she left, whatever ideals he had surround her and the music he might have pulled it. reading the original draft and their mind tripped relationship in it and those lyrics definately mesh.

Anyway it's the 86 version that kills. How THAT was not considered for release just beats the hell outta me

84 version is 10 minutes or so IIRC, the intro is very long and has been moved to the ending on the 86 version, which is really basically the same but a 6 minutes, shorter and more efficient edit IMHO. Sound quality of the 84 version is quite low, too, while Box Of Chocolate gave us the 86 version with perfect sound!

Is the '83-'84 version in circulation?
