New Leaked Piano session from 1983 Or could it be a fake? 1. Father's Song
I haven't had the time to listen to this much yet, as my computer speakers have a major issue...too annoying to keep trying to listen with all the distortion... but it showed up in my email today. It seems to be just Prince at the piano. It sounds so good, it has to be fake...right? Well, no...it sounds like the real deal. From what I did hear, it was all instrumental. I would not be shocked if it was 1983, as Prince obviously kept songs around for years before releasing them. Anybody know where this came from? The email came to me with no information at all...just another mystery.
ALSO....SOME ARE VERY SHORT...like Wednesday. [Edited 11/25/14 23:24pm] [Edited 11/26/14 0:16am]

Duh...can't believe I forgot to mention. MP3, and quality is fantastic from what I could hear. Sadly, I was instructed not to forward..which makes no sense, because if I have it, it has already leaked to multiple places. I never get anything first...I'm way way way down on the list of important people who get these things...in fact, I'm not even on the list. Somebody was just very kind to me, I suppose.

Sounds fake to me. Seems a big 'wishlist-y' blah blah blah

Is there actually any indication that this is Prince? I've only skimmed through it and can't really find any hard evidence. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

It very well could be a fake. If my speakers were even passable...I could probably tell. If it is fake, it's someone that sounds like they can play from what I was able to hear.

To further doubt this...can anybody actually confirm what "Wednesday" sounds like to begin with? If I can get my Atari 400 computer to burn a cd, I can play it in my car....so want this to be real.

Prince Vault confirms Venus de Milo existed for a few years as an untitled instrumental. Raspberry Beret was around for some years as well. Hope this release eventually makes the rounds. Sounds pretty exciting! "I like to watch."

Of course its going to "make the rounds" difficult to tell if its Prince though. Bitch this ain't the movies

Stylistically, does it sound like Prince? In places yes, at other times no imo. I've not really sat down and properly listened bt I guess fathers song is the best example to compare with what we know, and to me it doesn't sound like princes style. A lot f the songs are played at a faster tempo Bitch this ain't the movies

Could that be the tape? Is the pitch about right? The wooh is on the one!

Hm... Interesting. Not Prince imo. But interesting nevertheless. Sounds to me like Prince songs and Prince inspired songs played by someone with more conventional training than Prince. The emphasis is on the melody and harmonics of the songs, less on the rythm which is sometimes a bit off. The interpretations does not have the propulsive rhythmic value one would expect having heard Prince's own playing on the Intimate Moments boot, nor do I recognise the quirks from later recordings of Venus De Milo. And what kind of piano is being used? There's a clicking sound when keys are hit in the upper register. [Edited 11/27/14 4:01am] The wooh is on the one!

Track 3 "unknown" sounds like Ure Gonna C Me. .

Nice background music but certainly not a P recording IMHO....too crisp and clean with a completly different style of chord change...also hard to accept this is the only rehearsal from era where no mic at all was set up....

I don't think it's a recording of Prince playing the piano. Prince's style is very recognizable, and this just isn't it. It is nice, though.

It sounds nothing like Prince, Im going with fake I'll store the files for now I will take my place, In the great below

I have not heard this, but many things do not sound like Prince that have turned out to be Prince, not sure why it would be hard to believe this could be him. As we all know, he can play many different styles.

It sounds very nice, but I'm calling it a fake. Reeling off all of these "soon-to-be" hits, fan-favorites, "holy grails" and outtake classics in one shot with complete chord structures is kinda suspect to me. I know he sat on quite a few songs before putting them out during this period, but this just isn't convincing to me.

I couldn't tell if it's a fake or not if my life depended on it, honest! The consensus seem to be that it's fake so i'll go with that for now, but I hope someone will sort it out for good. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Assuming it was recorded in 1983. As far as we know it's an assumed date. And most of what he did back then turned to gold anyway.
And for anyone saying the sound is too clear, then what about Parade Demos? The Flesh? Are they fakes too? [Edited 11/27/14 7:46am]
