I sometimes wonder if Pope suffered from being compared to everything else on the Greatest Hits, and then...nope, I just remember I don't like it.

I was a teenager when it came out and I remember liking it quite a lot. I don't think anyone else at the time could have come up with something like, "you can be the president, I'd rather be the pope". It sounded just fine on the collection together with stuff like "Sexy M.F" and "Cream" on it.

That's one of the songs that, when it came out, I was shocked at how just busted-azz basic it was. I just couldn't believe Prince could make something that stoopid. And remember Bill Clinton was elected around that time, so it kind of seemed, to me anyway, like the song was Prince, in full egomaniac mode, hating on Bill Clinton, who was even then publicly known as a playa with a string of side-bitches, just like a certain purple paisley songwriter. To me that song was sort of Prince saying "You may have been elected President, but I can do better than that. I'm going to be GOD". And people think Kanye West is out there. That song is why I've never bought Prince's JW excuse about Obama. I think Prince is competitive and jealous when he sees other men succeed. Supportive my azz, I think Prince feels like he can usurp their attention, and pull their women. He can one up them. I don't think it's just limited to music, Prince is trying to be number one at existence!

Pope is great. I'll always like Prince when he does not force it. The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

Haven't listened to it lately but always liked it. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.
