@Purplessence is indeed real. There's a couple of (heavily active) accounts on Twitter that are in actuality being secretly run by his PR team. This is standard practice in the business these days. Those accounts are the ones that first started retweeting the @Purplessence account.

As for @Prince_NPG? Also real - in a sense. That account is ran by Live Nation. It first started when Prince began working with Live Nation on the Welcome 2 America tour. It then went quiet when he stopped working with Live Nation.

Then, when the launch party happened last month or the month before - that account started tweeting again. Guess who sponsored the launch party and had their logo on the video stream?? Drumroll please...... Live Nation. In fact as I recall, that account began tweeting again on that exact same day.

He's reforming the Revolution just in time for the Purple Rain remaster!!! 2015 is gonna be BIG!!! PS - I was much more upset when the bootleg trading sites were all shut down. His online presence was kind of C-grade anyway.

Fair enough so. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention but I am yet to see either purpleessence or prince_NPG tweet anything before it appeared elsewhere on the internet. Even Funkenberry got actual exclusives. But sure what harm, when there's news there's news.

WB did all they can. They were happy to foot the entire bill for promoting the new album, do all the leg work, create all the lyric videos, put out magazine ads, billboards, tube station posters and get the press to review the album. They probably even paid for the (completely unrelated) online album launch which showcased songs never before heard of, completely ignoring the new album entirely. Hell, Prince didnt even have to show up for the album announcement on live TV! On top of that WB threw in an additional album to release at the same time as the new album, no doubt at Prince's request, and probably gave him a nice fat fee upfront for the albums.

And...... All they probably really want in return is for Prince to help them rerelease Purple Rain with some quality additional extras.

As far as I can tell, Prince has shafted WB and kicked them in the balls. WB did all they can considering the artist they tried to promote went out of his way to fuck things up. Prince is a fucking moron and is becoming more and more moronic the older he gets. The saddest thing about it is there will not be many around to care once he finally deletes himself completely out of the history books. Im certainly at that stage now - I couldnt care less.
