God knows I was totally supporting Prince's excentricities, such as not singing on We Are The World or changing his name into an unpronounceable symbol, but when it comes to the erratic way he's been handling his internet presence over the last 10 years, I say enough is enough!

How hard can it be to maintain

- an official presence on social networks

- an official YT channel

- an official website with an online music store

???

Playing hide and seek online has its charms but too much is too much, this is just plain bad marketing is all that is, and it doesn't serve the cause of the music in the end when the music isn't anywhere to be found.

This doesn't bode well for the much anticipated remaster program.

Who cares. I'm growing tired of this arrogant old man. Don't get me wrong, I will forever love his classic hits, but this current Prince is a MASSIVE turn off. He could fade into abscurity, for all I care.

The man is fucking ridiculous. Another thread asked the question; does Prince get what he deserves? I kind of backed him up in that thread. But really, the man does not deserve the loyalty he gets from his fans. I think Im just going to integrate back into normal society, stay away from the org, take a break from his music and stop giving a fuck about this crazy fool. He just doesnt seem worth it anymore. Its as if he wont be happy until he has no fans left and no trace of his work to be found anywhere....

His behaviour seems a bit crazy at the moment, I have to say.

If he deletes his own Facebook page now and comes up with a new one later on then he's going to look quite silly. However, if he's made the decision to just end the "3rd Eye Girl" era and move then I'm not completely opposed to his more recent decisions. 3rd Eye Girl is not something that really should have gone for such an extended period of time. It's just not that interesting in the end.

Doesn't look good for 3EG at the moment does it?

Who knows though I would like to think its been done to attract some attention and maybe be back up with a HUGE announcement once everyones wondering whats happened.

Many Prince fans were shocked this morning when they discovered that the ‘official’ Prince and 3rd Eye Girl twitter account was no more!

@3rdEyeGirl had been a major outlet and source for ‘official’ Prince and 3rd Eye Girl info, including tour announcements, for Prince fans but it seems, for now, that account has been pulled.

Why?

Could it be that Prince has decided to pull the plug on 3rd Eye Girl, possibly in light of a new project? Could it be that the Twitter outlet had become, not only a major outlet and PR machine, but also a bit of a headache, what with the whole Toronto gig fiasco last month, was it too much to maintain and do right?
Was it always the plan to phase out the @3rdEyeGirl account in favour of the most recently added, and still active, @Purplessence account?

I’ll guess we will never know the true reason behind @3rdEyeGirl’s disappearance, band members Hannah Ford Welton, Ida Nielson and Donna Grantis still remain active on their personal accounts so maybe you should keep locked there for any further info regarding 3EG.

Our guess, Prince has disabled the account while he works on his new project, a more funk/jazz/soul based record alongside NPGQ.

Watch this space….

He's done this so he can spend more time leaking his own tracks.

also Prince deleted all videos posted on his 3rdeyegirl youtube page. Fuck him. (if he acts this way towards his remaining fans, then you can just imagine his antics towards Warner bros.)

I agree with what you say but I've felt that way since I first got in to Prince, which was just before the name change. He's always seemed unrelatable to me but I love his music. So this latest turn of events is no surprise to me, just the latest in a long, long line of inexplicable decisions.

As always for me, not really interested in Prince, love Prince music.

It's of course possible that he's taken down the different accounts in order to come up with just one official outlet. It had gotten really fragmented for him anyway.

Although I repeat, I wouldn't personally mind him moving on from the 3EG era.

I reckon it's likley something to do with WB thinking about it rather than 3EG, pulled all his sources of Self promotion there in one swoop, so unless WB promote him there is no output to do so, therefore effectivly hurting them (Not that it will do because sales are slow anyway)
