I like it. I like many prince albums that have failed commercially.

I think the album contains some great songs like wow, PE, Another love, but then also some songs that does not fit into the rock theme... I prefer AOA as a complete album... Also interesting that Prince `s facebook page or warners you tube did not link any videos or song snippets of the 3rdeyegirl album there...

Thats hilarious!! Well the album does suck so the numbers don't really surprise me. It is definately the worst album of his career far worse than New Power Soul which I never thought I would ev but it is. New Power Soul was released 16 years ago. Not sure if it is fair to comparison given the overall decline in sales from downloading. I bought about 100 copies of New Power Soul from Goodwill soon after its release. I think they wanted to sell them to me for .50 cents but from buying the lot they gave them to me for 25 cents each. They also sold me a ton of 1999 the new master and I also bought about 50 copies of Garth Brooks CD Chris Gaines. Just to put things into prospective. I thought I could turn them sooner or later for a little more. [Edited 11/19/14 5:06am] What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

The retailer that dumped NPS on goodwill was Target. They also trashed the Garth and 1999 cds. As a collector and dealer this was not as great buy! Not like the 50 copies of rave in2 or those CD singles from hit n run I got for $5. [Edited 11/19/14 3:54am] What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

. foo fighters and taylor swift are a whole different generation of music though with a mostly younger fanbase that still hangs on every thing they do. prince has the diehards longtime fans, but he aint really pulling large numbers of younger music buyers. u2 is one of the biggest selling bands nonstop, so really no comparison there. i dont know why anyone would think prince would be up there in those numbers. the only way he would ever have a hit album by those standards is to pull a meat loaf and call it purple rain 2. i still say for a artist of his time in the business, those are numbers that were exactly what was to be expected.

I was going to say sales are down for all artists... but having heard Taylor Swift did 3mil in 3 weeks?... Wow. It's all about airplay and Prince got none, you can't move for Taylor Swift. But shit sell a lot these days. This years big sellers aren't exactly the cream of the crop musically. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

I don't think a Prince album can be expected to have sustained chart success. If you're going to buy it, you are probably a fan and buy straight away - unless there is marketing, a hit song, song in a movie etc. That said, I don't get why there's such a big difference in the sales between the two albums, though PE's artwork isn't great.
I'd like to see a promotion video made similar to '2 Whom It May Concern' for the symbol ablum. That's a kicking video right there.

i think there are some people who really like 3rdEyeGirl so they bought the album. I think there are others who don't like the album but they bought it anyway because it's prince. The first group apparently isn't very big, and I bet the second group is much smaller than you might expect. Like, only the hardest of hardcores would buy an album for no reason other than 'it's prince' when a purer prince fix is right there next to it...

I doubt many of the contemporary albums I listen to even reach the 50,000 figure so I couldn't care less if Prince is now an underground artist How many copies of each album he releases does John Zorn sale? 10,000? Maybe less. That doesn't stop him for releasing an album every 2 months or so and make some profits by doing do. If Prince would quit being in a superstar logic and expecting every album to sell as they used to sell in the 80's, he could easily release 6 albums a year (some new stuff, some vault stuff) and that would make me much happier than one album a year selling 20M copies A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

So Lenny is already through the 200k mark and will probably outsell both of P's release's for the first time. Just goes to show what a lead single, good video and a few of promotional appearances on the main global shows can do. .

Sad AOA dropped to 101 in only it's 7 week. At this point it doesn't look like AOA will pass the 200,000 mark.
For Plectrum the total sales are still under 70,000.

A proper Purple Rain 30th anniversary edition in the summer would probably have stirred up interest in what Prince is doing these days, with resultant increase in sales in his new albums had they come out a few months after that. He and/or WB have done this entire thing arse about face. I would agree with you except PR is a kind of a rock album, PLEC's problem is in the album & the lack of good promotion. There are plenty of popular albums that are complete & utter garbage, but if you put enough $ & promo beind it you can make it look like a polished turd for a hot minute, until the facade wears off.

I do and you're a liar not to mention a bully (since you feel the need to harrass me with this everywhere I post on this forum). See my reply to the other thread: . "You're a liar. I bought almost everything until 2006. I was a premium member of NPGMC in 2001 and 2002, then a "lifetime" member from 2003 on, I bought every track sold in the NPGMC store, I subscribed to Lotusflow3r.com from day 1 (and never got my t-shirt nor any of the expected content), and I've bought each and every track released on 3rdEyeGirl.com on the day of release. I don't buy ALL of his music it's true, but back in the 90's it also happened that I wouldn't buy some specific release and a fellow fan would make me a cassette: there was no way I'd spend my cash on those stupid My Name Is Prince remixes or a Céline Dion album for example. Now since u seem to be keen on lecturing people how about u go preach in a church about how evil people are and washing-up their sins and so on? Peace " . Now I would appreciate it if you would stop harassing me. Thanks A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'm not much of Swift fan myself either, but I wouldn't neccessarily call it garbage (at least she can play an instrument), I was thinking more along the lines of Britney Spears & all the awful music like that, but I see where you're going with that.

Like you just said, you don't buy his music. Your opinions about his album sales are irrelevant if you call yourself a fan and then don't buy them. You've got nothing else to do all day but sit around on the internet bloviating opinions about Prince and don't even have the decency to fork over some cash to him for providing you such a prolific passtime. You really ought to be ashamed of yourself. [Edited 11/21/14 22:06pm]

Like I just said I DO buy his music and you aren't anyone to be judgmental about me or tell me what I do or don't. I've spent several thousand dollars in my life in Prince records, licenced items and concert tickets. You are spreading lies about me by saying I don't buy Prince's music because I do. And anyway even if I didn't you are nobody to judge and treat people the way you do. You have a ball bringing people down, that's all this is about and certainly not your feelings for Prince's bank account which are a lame excuse to behave like a bully. And now on top of it all you claim I've got nothing else to do but sit all day, basically you're saying that I don't work and do nothing with my life which is yet another lie and a shameless personal attack that violates this forum's rules. I don't know who you think u r to treat people like that. There was a thread asking people who'd bought AOA and Plec. It was intended by its OP as an open-minded conversation for people sharing their experience, not a pony-trap for you to identify victims to insult, harrass and humiliate in the future. Shame on you! So now I'm gonna ask you again to leave me alone and stop harrassing me, insulting me and spreading lies about me on this forum. You don't like me? Cool. Then please ignore me and I shall ignore u in return. But if you keep on insulting me I shall take this matter to the mods. This forum is a place where people can agree or disagree but not for bullies to find victims to insult and humiliate. One discussion can get heated once in a while and we can sometimes say things we regret later, it happened to me before and I apologized several times to fellow orgers when it did, shit happens and we can all understand that. But systematic agression from a member towards another isn't a conversation getting heated, it's a well-thought trolling behavior. I hope I made myself clear. Thanks and good luck to you finding other victims.

One, I like PlecElec and give it a (B) rating or 8/10. Two, it was a number one album on the chart, so, by definition, it can't be called a "chart" failure. I know some of y'all want it to be a chart failure because y'all don't like the album or don't like how Prince promotes his work or are just sick of Prince, but a number one charting album is a number one charting album no matter how y'all try to spin it. So, once again, Prince has two number one albums thirty-six years after his first album and thirty years after his biggest selling album. Thus, 2014 has been a great year with two top-charting albums. And, finally, while I like and greatly respect Lenny Kravitz, his new album sounds like utter crap to me so his selling 200K simply proves that selling a whole like of units has nothing to do with quality. I'll take AOA and PlecElec over his new record any day of the week because Kravitz's new record sounds like a one-dimensional guy who hasn't had a new idea in twenty years whereas AOA and PlecElec sound like a multifaceted guy continuing to try new things while still being anchored to his Funk, R&B, and Rock roots.
