"U Know" is a song that I like, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it because I down grade or deduct points for the concept of singing over a track, simply because I down grade or deduct points for cover songs. With that said, y'all's performance is interesting and gives me more to consider about the song. I like how y'all stayed true to a Prince aspect that his acoustic performances generally reframe, deconstruct, or open songs in ways that are not shown or revealed in the studio version. Yet, and I could be wrong, I think that if Prince does perform "U Know" live it will be more as a straight bass and drum funk performance, just because the groove lends itself so well to Prince's vocal ability to slink around the groove. Yet, I give y'all props for doing it. As you state, that verse ain't easy.

I'm never quite sure if BBC embed videos work outside the UK, but RodeoSchro and a few other Americans seem to be able to watch it Maybe it works fine on computers, but not on phones/tablets

So is it okay now to post videos of cover versions of Prince songs on the org now? Did you get permission from Paisley Park/NPG Records for this or does you being a mod change the rules? And what are you going to do if this gets the org in trouble?

I thought as a mod your responsibility would be stronger than your vanity but I guess I was wrong.

The BBC have established codes of conduct and arrangements with all performance royalty collection societies to ensure that Prince would get paid for a BBC broadcast of a song he wrote, like any other song they play on the radio. You think an organisation like the BBC would post a song if there was anything less than 100% certainty that they were perfectly entitled to do so? It's called fair use - and as long as the artist is getting paid - there's no issue.

Now, if we're talking about a random cover on YouTube where no royalty collection progress is in place? Then Prince is perfectly entitled to have a problem. That's not

I edited my post, I kinda felt like you were unfairly coming at me, I apologise.

I don't have a sore spot about vanity, it was more about your comment about how I should act "as a mod". Every single moderator on this site gets attacked on a day to day basis usually by the same few people, and it gets a little old. It's something we discuss a lot between us.

Seriously, thank you guys so much for the compliments, this was not an easy song to perform, especially having only learned it with the band a few hours earlier. The original version is so groove based that not having any drums to bounce the vocal rhythm off is really tough!
