he's very good at putting what he wants to hear on record. If what you want from music is the same thing he wants from music, you're in luck, because he's made a lot of it.

Starting with the obvious: like everyone else here, his music touches me: sometimes it heals, sometimes it make me think (changed my perspective a couple times), sometimes it's just relaxing, sometimes it reminds me of how wonderful it is to be in love, sometimes it reminds me how painful it can be to be in love, and sometimes it just makes me happy . . . let's go dancing happy.
I admire his commitment to both his gift and his art. I admire he is still passionate about his work (yes, I know some will disagree). While I also have my favorite times/genres/bands/associates of/in his career, I admire he didn't just keep doing the same thing over and over. Whether it was to my taste or anyone else's, I admire he tested himself by growing in different directions. I think that would be difficult when the world expects one thing and you deliver something else. I admire that even when the industry and critics are, hmmmm, let's just say "uncomplimentary" to the direction he travels, he still keeps to his path . . . whether I or anyone else likes or approves of that path. I think that's a good lesson for all of us--to be able to brave the criticism to do what is right for yourself at a moment in time. I admire that no matter what any of the ex's have to say about time with him, he doesn't say a word . . . okay, well, maybe a song, but I can think of only one where I think I truly can identify the person . . .
I think it's terrific he invites us ordinary folks to Paisley Park on a fairly routine basis; how many other people with his fame do that? Although they seldom make front page news (I don't mean org front page news), I like to hear about his charitable gifts/work.
I admire his commitment to whatever it is that interests him: although we don't see much of it, he certainly appears to be a better than decent photographer . . . that takes some effort. No matter how anyone regards his faith, he was certainly committed to studying about it. I guess to wrap it up, I admire that when something interests him, he doesn't seem to be sketchy or depthless about the topic: like his music, he seems committed to being thoroughly knowledgeable.

Prince strides the earth
and when he's covered it he sprouts wings and soars. Prince wears his soul inside out and peacocks through life with his elegant, badass tail spread high, wide, and THERE. Prince has his own back, like no other musician. Prince. Does. Not. Appologize. If only I could have watched his life (like a movie) before I was born. I imagine the Master would have introduced it by saying "now pay attention baby girl--THIS is how it's done." [Edited 11/8/14 17:35pm] "💜guitar and drums on the one💜"

he's my favorite artist. i'm grateful to have had the chance to inhabit the same era as prince and enjoy his music and other quirky output

1) He is always striving to be a better musician and his playing has greatly improved over the past 20 years. He could have coasted by on his God given talent and the lessons he learned up to say '84 or '86. He didn't. He kept learning. This is one thing that I've found all of the artists I greatly admire have in common. In this respect, you could compare him to many great artists such as Van Gogh or Hemmingway.
2) He's produced an immense amount of beautiful music of all varities since his so called 'peak years.' I'm grateful for it. So many albums. So much great music. Sure, he misses once and a while but when he hits the target ....... WOW.
3) You will never be able to use the words 'Prince' and 'quitter' in the same sentence. Like any human being , Prince has been though his ups and downs, his good times and his bad. Some, like family deaths and bad hips, we know about. I'm sure there's much more we don't know about. Yet, year after year the guy gave us great records, great live shows, great boots, and things to get excited about.
4) I was 13 when Purple Rain came out. Of all the pop stars of that era , Prince was definietly the one called weird, eccentric, freaky, or strange, the most. But when you look back, the guy has lived a pretty clean, scandle free life. He's never been arrested. He's never been caught masturbating in a movie theatre or having sex in a public bathroom. You've never read the headline; HIS ROYAL BADNESS CAUGHT IN OPIUM DEN WITH TWO DARLING NIKI'S and you likely never will. All said and done, the guy turned out to be somewhat of a role model. He dedicated himeself to something he loved and then he worked his ass off.
5) Prince has never phoned it in. EVER. I really believe that the guy gives us his best everytime.

There will not be another artist that will create such a diverse body of work such as Prince. He's a gifted musician who creates sounds that just don't come from anyone else on this planet. He phenomenal and an amazing performer. Glad to have been on the planet at the same time as he's been so that I can enjoy his output. Trolls be gone!

So many albums. So much great music. Sure, he misses once and a while but when he hits the target ..... WOW. I agreee. Any human being who reaches the age of 56 has some hits and some misses in every area of their life. It's shortsighted and immature to insist that true greatness means unerring perfection EVERY TIME. Or not considering that the price of achieving greatness is sometimes experiencing dismal failure as well. I am so grateful my highs and lows are 't discussed casually by (even supportive) onlookers. Compared to some of my missteps, Prince's aren't terribly dramatic. 3) You will never be able to use the words 'Prince' and 'quitter' in the same sentence. Yet, year after year the guy gave us great records, great live shows, great boots, and things to get excited about. Amen. He keeps showing up. That takes spirit, soul, acceptance, and (dare I say) humility. 4) I was 13 when Purple Rain came out. He dedicated himeself to something he loved and then he worked his ass off. Exactly. The deviant, licentious and decadent behavior didn't appear because with Prince it's "back to the studio". I believe it's his extraordinary work ethic that's kept him heading in the right direction. He never "gave up". 5) Prince has never phoned it in. EVER. I really believe that the guy gives us his best everytime. Sho you right! "💜guitar and drums on the one💜"

Prince possess a tremendous ability to create the finest music alive. He incorporates many diverse and potent sounds into his music. He creates the scenario with his lyrics and powerful sounds which are right on point. His music is capable of breaking a bad mood, setting a new love interest on fire and also bring much awarness to what's going on in our world today. There's just something so special about Prince. While playing his instruments and singing in that beautiful, sexy voice no other musician can compare. Prince is like a self contained Power Source which holds every note and lyric and then shares it all with the World : ) One of the things I love the most about Prince, is his courage and bravery playing his music the way he wants. He is surely dynamic and a real source of inspiration. I'm still as stunned today with his output compared to other artists That Man is a Super Rock Star that goes way beyond the limits of any previous rock stars. He shares all that music, good vibes and love with his fans around the world.
Prince's music is so oustanding that at times it's overwhelmingly beautiful. There's been times when I've walked into a room where Prince was playing and it felt like all the weight in the world feel off of my shoulders. I have to stop what I'm doing and just dig Prince so that I can try to absorb all that he has going on with his Magnificent Musical Magic. Prince is one of a kind, kind of guy!! There will never be another musician as intense or prolific as he is, and I love him for it

Whenever I'm at my lowest moment a Prince song will come on, when I start my car, when I'm driving, when I'm working, when I choose to pop in a cd....is it at these times I know he was meant to be in my lifetime to witness his artistry, revel in the true beauty( he is not just fine the man is beautiful) and to be able to soak in the healing ability his music has done to my inner spirit. For THIS I'm 4ever grateful. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

He's by far the best with multi-tracking his vocals. He just sounds outstanding when he layers/duets with himself. A great example: "Girl" [Edited 11/10/14 12:26pm] Get in your mouse, and get out of here!
