But I had my music playing at work and a track on the playlist by STYX Renegade came on.

At first the music was low enough that I could not pinpoint who it was but I immediately heard Electric Chair [Prince-Batman]

What do you think? Mostly during the chorus part

I would say what you're hearing are similar tones in the guitar effects.

I think you could call the two songs kissing cousins? Maybe, kissing third cousins? There's a little bit of the same I-IV note groove there at the 2:00 minute mark.
