3rdeye twitter - Toronto apology So... Donna, Hannah, Ida and Trevor Guy have all apologised for the fuck up confusion surrounding the non-existant Toronto gig but on the 3rdeyegirl twitter there is nothing. Am I the only one to find this a bit strange?

I'm not sure how this even happened. There were barriers out on the streets. People were posting pictures from the line. Sure wires sometimes get crossed but what an epic fuckup.

Fortunately for me, I was not one of those that dropped everything and raced down there, however, I do believe Prince and his girls owe the fine people of this great city something special for this screw up. Prince was once a resident here and has always been treated extremely well, so hopefully he doesn't forget that. We could use a show at Massey Hall at a reasonable price for the tickets. Prince - please give it some thought.

Let's hope this motivates Prince to do a normal tour and advertise his dates well in advance of the concerts so that we can make plans. It doesn't mean that we love him less, it just means that we are all getting to old to be finding fluffy.

Well there was this on Billboard's website...
but ummm, it really doesn't make it seem any less of total clusterfuck. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

JFC...he's way too old to be pulling this sort of shit. I feel bad for the girls.

They really have nothing to apologize for. As far as I know, nothing official came from his camp that there would be a performance. Disappointing for those there, I'm sure, but the Toronto media should be the ones taking the blame for blowing it up before they had confirmation. TRUE BLUE

I'm pretty sure the staff at Massey Hall wouldn't have just let a couple of hundred or so people stand around outside of their venue - waiting for hours - for absolutely no reason at all. Something was supposed to happen, it obviously fell through, to save face (their own), all parties concerned went the "since we never actually confirmed it, let's pretend it was never going to happen" route and it's the fans that looked foolish for jumping through hoops based on some random cryptic Tweet, in the first place.
It's not rocket science, just Princeology 101.

There were way more than couple hundred people there. The line stretched from Shuter down to a Queen and around the corner, and we were 3-4 deep in most spots. I got there at 9:30, and was maybe 30 people back from the front. As for the claim that it "was the media's fault": There were rumours about the show floating around the night before, a 3rdEyeGirl tweet the morning of that mentioned Toronto and the date, a photo of Hannah's drums on the Massey stage, a Ticketmaster page for the event, and Massey had security and barricades in place to control the line. All signs pointed to yes.

That just makes it all the more of the damn shame that it really is. But hey, there can always be better luck next time, right? I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

The photo of Hannah's drum kit was from the media, right? I just saw a few of the news clips posted on the other thread. I agree that all signs did point to yes, but he must of changed his mind mid afternoon. I'm totally not buying that they just rented the space to practice setting up the equipment and lighting. They can do that at Paisley Park for free. Believe me, I've had many false alarms living in Minneapolis. Very frustrating! TRUE BLUE
