Prince' 'SNL' Performance through the eyes of a few online musicians..

"was watching SNL on Saturday and Prince came on. He didn't change the world, he just sang a little, played some keyboards, and jammed on his guitar.

I was pretty sure I just plain enjoyed it and was quite entertained.

But now, after every angle of what was wrong with this set has been pointed out to me, how he had a pretty, but lousy drummer that can't keep time, how he hires a band to just follow his every command and do nothing to stand out, how he can no longer write a real song, how he is so lame that he can't even remember to plug in his guitar, I now realize how wrong I was and that my enjoyment of the actual performance was obviously unwarranted. Can't imagine what I was thinking.

I'll be more careful next time"

Are they musicians or recording engineers? Because the performance has received good reviews and so have the CDs. I see a lot hostility toward the Rock and Roll project which I believe is just because it is Rock n Roll. He is getting slammed for stepping out of his lane.

Pretty sure that person is being completely sarcastic.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

wait...so, because his guitar wasn't plugged in, he's "lame"? That's kind of off-the-chain level stupid. The fact that he noticed it, plugged it in, and proceeded to just plain get off was impressive in and of itself. How many of these posters would have had the wherewithall to remain composed and keep playing, perfectly, as if nothing had even happened?

I'm fairly sure a tech was fired for having not plugged the guitar in. That statement alone renders the rest of their opinions moot.

^ The guy is being sarcastic. "my enjoyment was unwarranted" is clearly a facetious statement.

Although since it's bound to come up again - RE: Hannah people on Drum forums talking about her have little bad to say about her. The only people who seem to think she's terrible are Princes fans.

I posted this simply because i thought it was an interesting view on our man..

Some thought it was Crap!

Some thought it was Brilliant as always!

Some thought he hasnt made anything worthwhile since the early 90s..

Some defended him and praised albums like

the rainbow children & knew who Sonny T. & Michael B. are..

Some liked the girl band.. some hate it..

It kinda reminded me of the Org biggrin

^ That and the fact she's insanely good looking. Sparking the cleché that she's there because of how she looks. When in actual fact it's because she's a girl and a good drummer. (Look at the people she's learned from).

Donna and Ida are both pretty girls but they're not as obviously attractive as Hannah. If the plan was that 3rdeyegirl were all supposed to be models... Wanna hear Cara Delevingne on the Bass? Me Either.

I thought Lianne(sic?) stepped on the cord. Either way, he kept going and kicked ass.

I love Rock 'n' Roll and I thought that album was some bullshit.
