How far is the SNL performance expected to impact sales?

How far is the performance on SNL expected to impact AOA and PE sales?

Any historial analysis for Prince and other artists after such mainstream appearances?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure guess we wil see next week.

AOA is out of the TOP 50 in U.S. and World Wide charts.

AOA still hasn't passed the 200k mark world wide where U2 album sold over 250,000 in 2 weeks, even though it had a dismal 23k debut in the U.S. charts.

PE fell off the charts long ago and will not pass 75,000 in total sales...

Eh...

Was this a promotional effort?!

You tell us only now?!

If this is his AOA/PE promo, then WB is even worse (at this time) as I see no PR promo (yet).

In the US AOA and PE were out of the Top 200 on iTunes.

After the performance the albums are now at #34 (AOA) and #118 (PE)...

It will have an impact, but i think not that much...

I still don`t know why they did not release a song to radio...

But i think it will have an impact if he will announce a US tour in the next weeks

There was a small attempt from Apple right after the performance to get people to go to ITUNES/SNL or something like that. You would think Warner Bros would at least run an ad for AOA/PlectrumElectrum but whatever Prince is a millionaire and doesn't care about money obviously. So why should we care?

Remember the U2 album was given away for free, so even people who don't like U2 won't pass up a free listen. A little misleading.

AOA up to 35 on US Amazon charts, up 22 spots from last night.

PE up about 130 spots, last night was at 197 and up to 66 this AM.

Temporarily awareness has been brought to the CDs. Two things must happen now. More copies need to be sent to stores because it has been hard to find at most stores. And a radio single needs to be released immediately.

All good things they say never last...

Like I've said before and not trying to sound negative... But PE has lost it's momentum it was a flop commercially, regardless of the slump in sales in the industry. Even with this performance there is little grace to boost this album, it won't surpass 75,000 sales world wide making it his 2nd lowest selling album ever behind N.E.W.S.

AOA still is under the 200K mark but can reach Gold with more promotion, hopefully the SNL performance and the #1 world wide trending on Twitter will give some more light to both albums.

It doesn't work like that when you're not an artist who's played on the radio. The bulk of the rest of the establish musician world sell when they go on tour.

Change it one more time..

Lastly, it cant be a flop if it outperformed 99% of the other cd's released this year, if you want to talk pure numbers...an estimated 60000 to 70000 new cd';s released each year in USA

When you receive substantial media promotion but are beaten in sales by an old band who also gave their album away for free, thats a disaster whichever way you spin it.

When you can't outsell some of your own obscure independent releases, you know your hardcore fan base has seriously dried up.

Like most great artists, P has crossed over that line where he is no longer relevant will only shift volumes of greatest hits and concert tickets.

I don't have a problem with that. I'd rather have another Plectrum Electrum than Musicology.

I think P should stop chasing the mainstream and look to gain his income from writing for others and touring the historically profitable areas.

Everyone has the U2 album for free why is the sales issue for them even relevant ?

Sorry but they are not a safe text book rock band, don't confuse U2 with Bon Jovi, there was nothing text book about this band from Achtung Baby to albums like Zooropa and Pop. Sorry but those records are not text book rock please.

I agree. I'm not fussed about sales. I don't see why some are so obsessed by it. It tends to be a U.S. thing. Stats stats stats.

Personally, the less popular he is, the more chance I have to see him in smaller shows. He's probably better off touring the world for a remaining 10 years, playing the 2-4000 capacity venues at premium ticket prices.

In global current relevence, and certainly music sales, he's more Neil Diamond than Foo Fighters.

Exactly and as U2 is an old band, Prince is an old singer that maybe a lot of his base don't care about a new record they just want shows like most older artists base want

Every artist signed plays the game so to speak and please don't say Prince doesn't play the game because he does to. Also who is causing waves? And please don't say either of these Prince records because both are painting by numbers Prince typical RB ballads mid tempo stuff almost as predictable as a Mariah Carey album. U2 is doing no promotion for this album, this record was handed out, who's doing that? Also no video only via the Internet, no singles serviced to radio, no tour, no us tv shows or anything planned till mid 2015, now that sounds like bad game playing for promoting.a new record

That's not true. If you have been keeping up with the charts both US. and World Wide charts. AOA and PE fall off the charts a lot quicker than other artists like Maroon 5, Chris Brown etc... Where there numbers are not impressive but still sell at a regular pace week after week after week.
