I liked it but agree with those who say it seemed a bit rushed. I think it would have benefitted from a slow number to end it after Anotherlove, perhaps The Breakdown. If time was an issue, he could have cut out the instrumental and Marz.

I use a VPN and set it to a US location. If you don't use a VPN I'm not sure the best way. Do the links at "idolator" not work there? Change it one more time..

Doesn't work for me either.

Um why you give a fuck to write all that about a fucking guitar

Who wants to bet that in a few short weeks, SNL is gonna do a Prince skit with those damn three-eyed glasses?

In case you've missed it: I didn't write all that about a fucking guitar. I wrote all that about fams who ridiculously try to defend every single thing Prince does and cannot even imagine him ever making a mistake.

and you are correct; they handled it like pro's

No, he did it on purpose so he could pretend to be pissed off and have an excuse for not coming out at the end.
PS: good to see another old skool AMP'er.

How would he have carried his guitar out if he just jumped off of the keyboard? Usually people use wireless systems when they're on large stages, not small cramped ones like the SNL setup. And even those require setup, so it's not like its less work setting up a wireless than just using a chord. Anyway.. I'm not sure why this topic is still being discussed, its not like it impacted the performance in any meaningful way. Change it one more time..

Watched it and was like ....huh??
Came here read opinions....let it marinate......watched it again and was like nope!
For me felt rushed, I NEVER liked this new fro, Plec Elec (not a fan of the song at all) would have preferred two whole songs.....but then again sitting through SNL was a serious challenge!
I like to see Prince move about and if you look at the floor space there was nowhere to go because of the equipment. I understand the staging on SNL but geesh man the obvious climbing over the equipment stuck out for me. The symbol always looks best illuminated behind him, that mic stand has to go. I really don't care for the 3rd Eye set up or their vibe from the very beginning and could do without them vocally. Something was just a bit off and late with the drumming and vocals ESPECIALLY on Another Love.
I DID however enjoy seeing Prince on tv, taking off the glasses, and smiling at the end. I even enjoyed their outfits but once again it was so much staging that it was almost too much, like why even have the chic awkwardly sitting in the back slapping a tambourine...I assume she was there for vocal support?
Any exposure he can get on tv is great, but as a long time fan this was not a favorite for me. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

Just watched this finally. 3 things I have to say: 2 - Far from a perfect set, but was certainly a good quick-fire advertisement for the new albums. Anotherlove killed and it was the perfect song to end with. 3 - Donna constantly walking back and forth was awkward, given all the gear she had to walk around to do it. But she has a great butt so that made it more acceptable

As they were obviously counting on Chris Rock and Prince to save them, I am sure they wil milk Prince's appearance. I remember looking for the two-eyed version (as seen in the scene in Purple Rain when the Kid meets Apollonia) because I thought they were so cool. I am old now and I would probably wear the 3 eyed version in public!

Rocked it all the way to the highest ratings for SNL!
http://www.thewrap.com/ratings-nbc-saturday-night-live-chris-rock-and-prince-deliver-season-high/
Chris Rock and Prince were a winning combination for NBC's “Saturday Night Live.” Saturday's episode averaged a 4.9 rating/12 share in household results in Nielsen's 56 metered markets and a 2.4/10 in the advertiser-coveted Adults 18-49 demographic in the 25 markets with local people meters according to Nielsen's preliminary numbers. That makes it the highest-rated episode of the 40th season so far. For comparison, season-opener Chris Pratt and musical guest Ariana Grande's episode on Sept. 27 averaged a 4.0/10 in household results and a 2.1/10 in the key demo. See video: ‘SNL’ Host Chris Rock Takes On Terrorism, Taylor Swift and Obama Rock's episode is the highest-rated in metered-market households since Feb. 1 when Melissa McCarthy hosted with musical guest Imagine Dragons earned a 5.4/13. In the ad demo in the Local People Meters, this is the highest-rated “SNL” since March 1 when Jim Parsons hosted with musical guest Beck earned a 2.4/11 and ties February's McCarthy episode, which earned a 2.9/12. “Saturday Night Live” also ranked as the No. 1 telecast of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in both metered-market households and the key demo in the Local People Meters, outscoring all primetime programs on those networks in both measures.

Is anyone surprised that our boy Prince is the only artist in 39 years of SNL to get 8 uninterrupted minutes to play? He's got more street cred than Walter White. [Edited 11/3/14 15:54pm] "The password is what."

He was as entertaining as any other 56 year old professional performer could ever hope to be. The same thing could be said of the 28 year old Prince..

The ratings thing wasn't hard to do since SNL ratings were at an all-time 40 year record low before the Jim Carrey episode last week. About the guitar, it kind of worked in my opinion. Donna started and then Prince joined in. Was kinda cool. But yeah, he was pissed. I bet Liv was pissed just sitting back there on a tambourine. Why not use her instead of La Havas? Unless he is fucking La Havas and then I would forgive him.

Hope this wasn't mentioned yet if so I apologize but was listening to Tom Joyner and the crew and apparenlty others out there were upset that Prince, who just released two albums, was upset that he didn't perform Purple Rain.

> Surely they jest. Didn't Prince badly lipsync a performance during The World Music Awards one year?
