"I Wonder U": The studio version is just unmemorable, but the live version is gawd awful.
LOL omg I Wonder U (album version) is a slice of steamy poetry. I didn't care for trying to turn it into a jam on the tour. But the album cut is perfect
* I thought I'd be able to sneak through without anyone noticing my choice. I get what you mean by "steamy poetry," but the delivery is supposed to be "breathless" but just sounds "constipated" or like that really bad porn acting. Yet, "I Wonder U" actually works better in the film than on the album for me; don't really know why other than the atmosphere seems appropriate for the song. As for the live version, maybe if he would have emphasized the bass and drum more and tried to "funk it up" rather than making it "whimsical" with the annoying horn solo, it would have had a chance to live, but the live performance is a slow and painful death whose memory still causes my head to hurt and my stomach to flip. However, Parade, itself, is a masterpiece that obscures how much I dislike "I Wonder U." |

Nope, not one. Some songs don't work on their own, but they always fit in an album context. |

Over the years what I've learnt is that I can still be a Prince fan and have completely different taste to another fan. His diversity is one of his strongest attractions for me and someone who has been so all over the place, not everything is going to appeal - though it's amazing how much of it has. |
