They were basically compilations of both previously released and unreleased material with a few songs by other acts and many spoken interludes, some of them quite odd or funny. It was lotsa fun at the time 4 me to have those, but the main interest was really the previoulsy unreleased songs, lotsa live stuff which was great because save the video releases there was almost no live stuff officially available at the time, a few rehearsals tracks and some hide and seek games such as those versions of The Stick and Pop My Clutch that were almost identical to the album versions except if u listened closely there were a few very discreet sounds added to them. Some studio tracks were also released only in that context, never made available in any other way. I remember editing out everything that wasn't Prince or previously unreleased and making a 4-CD compilation with only the interludes and unreleased songs. U can find the detailed tracklists on Princevault: http://www.princevault.co...s_(Prince) God I had such a ball with NPGMC in 2001, it really broke my heart when announced the original formula was put to an end after only a year [Edited 10/19/14 8:18am] A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

The Ahdio Transmission for September 2001 was comprised of all spiritual and uplifting songs in the wake of 9/11. I took that as Prince's "response" to what had happened.

I dunno, been a long time since I listened to that boot. Point being, it was very similar to some of the Ahdio Shows. There were even some fake commercials. Prince showed off his sense of humor on both too, I believe. I think that boot was called New Power Generation Radio and was from a broacast in, I want to say, 1989? Good times... One could argue that Prince invented the Podcast. I don't know if any other artist was doing this kinda thing in a downloadable format before.

Invented maybe not but he was part of it from the very beginning of podcasts as we know them today: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...podcasting A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Agreed - pioneered (or was one of the pioneers) but then he quickly abandoned the idea. I for one think it was a great format for him . . . maybe not a monthly download model, but maybe yearly? Think about it, an hour long Ahdio show . . . 45-50 minutes of new/alternate music 10-15 minutes maybe with spoken word recap of the year and/or commentary on the tracks. . Garth Brooks started a download service that competes with iTunes called Ghost Tunes and of course his own music is the cornerstone of that new service. In a lot of ways, Prince was toying with this idea with NPGMC and even moreseo with the Musicology Store. Another "pioneering" moment for Prince -- which of course 10 years later now every band sells music on their own sites.

I'm still convinced that a gigantic online store where would sell his back catalogue as well as a decent amount of vault live and studio material, and even maybe material he gave for others and doesn't own but that could be licenced to the online store by the labels that own the masters would be not only a profitable venture but also a magnificent testimony of his legacy. According to several Org members, Alan Leeds said that Prince did not have legal rights to release o his own any material recorded during the WB years (even unreleased stuff). If that was the case, then it would make a whole lot of sense why a project like that never happened. . Now that Prince is "back" with WB, it really would make sense to start opening the Vault and capitalize on his current popularity. And, if it was run by them, it would be very professionally handled.
