Gotta have multiple backups. No reliance on burned discs. Use a separate hard drive and a service like CrashPlan. Also consider iTunes Match or Amazon Cloud Player. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Would itunes match have NPGMC tracks? also I've heard it can replace rarer/alt versions with edits and different versions? I wouldn't trust it myself.

I subscibed to Office 365 and as a result got 5TB of free online storage with the excellend MS SkyDrive. I now have everything backed up in the cloud (as well as a spare hard drive) and I can stream anything anywhere. .

Sync your phone via iTunes. Just use Match as a cheap backup for rare shit. Or do Dropbox. I'm paranoid. My backups' backups have backups. If you have an @gmail email address then you can use google music. There you can upload 20,000 songs (each song must be less than 300MB) They're then available to you anywhere. It uploads your files rather than matching so it's great for uploading rare tracks. You can even upload .flac files (sometimes doesn't work but is ok for the most part).
Songs are available via any browser and android devices have a dedicated app which lets you make songs/albums/playlists available offline.
They also have a spotify-like service so along side your own 20,000 songs you can also have access to their entire catalog of music.

Very interesting. If you have more than 20K songs, can you pay extra to upload more? One thing I hate about iTunes Match (in addition to to sometimes failed matches) is that there's a 25K song limit. Amazon Cloud Player (or is it Amazon Music these days?) has a crazy 250K song limit, which rules. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I honestly don't even know for sure what "data discs" are, I guess CD-roms but IDK, those things are like from another millenia

I honestly don't know. I'd assume you could... or you could pay the monthly subscription - which would likely give you access to many of the songs you already have. - these can be streamed or "pinned" to your device for offline listening.
