I've often wondered if "Purple Music" should have been on the album instead of "All The Critics..."

You win a nonsense award because as I already told you All Day, All Night was recorded in June 1984
well, then I change the date of release of my alternative version to July 1984, so I win (again)
OK, so then I add Lavaux to your tracklist and my alternative version was released in 2010, how about that?

JHC, imagine if an album like 1999 had been released in 2010, it would have changed the world...for the better

Not really There were LOADS of albums released over course of the last 10 years that emulated the early 80's sound, most of them really cool, none of them changing the world. |

Yeah but IDK. I mean it was also mindblowing in 1982 because it was 1982. Not that it would have been any less good if released later but admitting everything else in the history of pop music had been released when it was, 1999 would probably not have had half the impact it had if released as such in 2010, it would at most have been hailed as a glorious homage to early 80's music, but I guess it'd mostly have remained a hipster's thing. |

1999 is perfect as it is. Absolute masterpiece. I do love Moonbeam Levels though I don't feel it would fit on 1999. |

It fits perfectly and in fact it segues right from 1999 the song. The reason why it probably stayed in the vault was that it would have been two apocalyptic songs back to back. __________________________________________________
