Does BCW Remind Anyone Else of ... I knew the music of Breakfast Can Wait reminded me of something, and then it struck me ...
Steve Arrington's Weak at the Knees. Anyone questioning the funk pedigree of BCW will notice it more pronounced in WATK. Just wondering if Prince maybe had been listening to this recently or had it lodged somewhere in the back of his funky noggin.
This is a classic funk jam!

Doh, went back and added correct link. Carry on. If you've got funk, you've got style.

I'm not really hearing it. If you're referring to the way the electric piano is used on the track then sure, but there's plenty of jazzy funk stuff around that has the same thing going on.

It's very similar to 'Come On'.

To me it sounds like a mix between the sonics of The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker and the vocals of Come On. RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

No. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

i don't know what people are hearing, there is really not a damn thing similair. Yeah, Week in the knees has drums and so has BCW.

Both have shuffling funk grooves and similar BPM. As a former DJ I could have mixed them together all day and had the crowd in the palm of my hand. I think people are missing it because the vocals are so different and WATK leans so much more heavily toward overt funk. BCW is more subtle. If you've got funk, you've got style.

... yes, BCW really reminds me of Come on too (you can almost sing the lines over the beat of BCW) and the more "spoken then sung" vocals echoes the ones from Ballad of Dorothy Parker. Once again Prince is recycling his own stuff...

No, but "Clouds" does remind me of an amalgamation of Dam Funk's "I Want To Thank You For Steppin' Into My Life" and Ledisi's "Best Friend."
