Please bear with me while I rant.This thread might get locked but I just have to get this off my chest.

This is concerning the inner circle of people who have unreleased music and say they can't share

because it would get the person who shared with them in trouble.Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean any disrespect to those people because they are just doing what was asked of them and I would probably respect their wishes too but,I would not go around playing snippets of the music and letting people know I have the songs,doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of only a small circle of people having them?I'm writing this thread because lately I've been hearing alot of uncirculating music snippets and please don't ask me who or what websites because I don't want to put anybody on blast.It's like saying I got something you can't have and boasting about it even if they're not intending it that way.I'm not buying the fact that the music can't be shared because someone will get in trouble for the simple fact it's common knowledge that these tracks are out there and being shared and out of hundreds of boots that are circulating why would these songs get someone in trouble because some of the songs are just pristine quality versions of songs that are out there already?

So,my question is and if I could get a real honest answer from somebody who really knows,why don't these people share with everybody?Again,I'm not trying to piss anybody off or disrespect,I just want a real honest answer because some of the people playing snippets are people I like and respect and sorry if this is too long and it seems like I'm whining but I'm just a hardcore Prince fan who would love to hear these songs.

If I remember correctly, a lot of snippets come from an official Prince preview promo tape of selections for the proposed Crystal Ball 2 that was sent out within the industry. Some of these ended up being auctioned on ebay, sold etc.

So in those cases the collectors only have snippets (I think like 2 min previews)

Now I've got The Time's "Release It" in my head. And I'm ok with that.

Is there a specific song example you can name? I'm not doubting you, but it's good to be specific because different tracks have different origin points.

There are also fakes where they edit together snippets into the structure of a full song.

At the same time, yes there are full tracks, and a new one always seems to pop up every year or so. The only reason people might tease with a track is to have a feeling of power.

that supposed "promo tape" also contained a snippet of "adonis and bathsheba"

which recently leaked in full, in great quality. so i'm thinking now that the whole

tale about it being just snippets isn't really true and people have those songs on

that tape in full.

Yes, similar to Love (Never Has 2 Say Goodbye), there was a snippet floating round but then recently the full song appeared.

There's a load of titles there I'd love to hear. And at a guess, if these tracks really are in collector's hands, it's because they paid out big bucks to get them. Maybe thousands? If you paid that kinda money to own something, would you then give it away to everyone for free?

No i wouldn;t. But i also wouldn't use them to wind up people either
