Prince's most cringe inducing songs New Power Generation - the grandaddy of "New Jack" Prince song..."YEAH BOY, PUMPING THE BIG NOIZE FOR THE 90's"
Latest Fashion - a true mess of a song. Amazing how much better My Summertime Thing is.
Get Off - Yes, one "t". Inexplicable how this ended up being released, even as a b-side. Its only saving grace is that it led to Gett Off with was a surprise hit for Prince.
Jughead - nuff said
My Name is Prince - more for the awful video and the first appearance of the ill-conceived gun mic but also not a great song on its own.
The Flow - Another WTF moment from this era
Loose! - ONETWOTHREEFOUR!
Big Fun - Get Freaky let yo head bob
Mr. Happy - Prince still doing late 80s new jack in 1996
Da Da Da - Seriously couldnt find another track from the cutting room floor to replace this?
I Like it There - The first "rock" song on this list but a distorted guitar doesnt automatically make a song rock. If Prince woke up one day and forgot how to write a song, this is what it would sound like.
Right The Wrong - First and last appearance of Prince's western drawl. Thank god.
Shoo-Deb-Ooh - Forgot this even existed. Not sure what he was going for here
Push it Up - As painfully bad as I remembered it
The Greatest Romance - Vocals layered upon layer upon layer upon layer. Make it stop please!
Silly Game - Prince's first attempt at 70s easy listening is a misfire. He gets better at it if you like this sort of thing.
Life O the Party - If I had to pick one sogn for this list, this one would be one of the 3 contenders
Cinnamon Girl - Reminds me of I Like It There. Prince doing a pop/rock song very badly.
Incense & Candles - Prince finally gets to late 90s R&B and autotune.......in 2006
Mr Goodnight - the perfect companion for Mr. Happy.
Lion of Judah - THIS is what the long await reunion with W&L led to? Really?
Therell never b another like me - Prince, you're like 50 years old. Stop braggin'
Valentina - Kinda creepy when you hear what this was about.
Sea Of Everything - another bad easy listening mistake. cf with Walk in Sand which is actually quite good.
Art Official Cage - a mess

Great list. Add the 2 new albums as well. Even the song 'Clouds' is ruined by La Havas:
Mr. Nelson, Mr. Nelson, can you hear my voice?

I thought the gun mic first made its appearance in the Lovesexy tour's version of Bob George? Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

This list looks like a "Best Of..." Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Chronologically... 1. Dead On It 2. Glam Slam 3. Grafitti Bridge (the song) - terrible, but it's at the end of the album so you can just turn it off 4. Daddy Pop 5. Jughead - the first prince song to get a 1/10 in my book 6. The Flow 7. Loose! 8. We Gets Up 9. Get Yo Groove On 10. Mr. Happy - that first disc of emancipation has some true clunkers 11. The Rainbow Children - the most cringe inducing song of his career (and sadly the instrumental aspects are fantastic) 12. Muse 2 the Pharaoh 13. Y Should I Do This, When I Can Do That 14. Cinnamon Girl 15. Resolution 16. Another Like Me 17. Chocolate Box 18. No More Candy 4 U - MPLSound was rough 19. Colonized Mind - a great instrumental, but the bad lyrical moments are really bad 20. Compassion Grafitti Bridge (the song) was definitely a turning point, in the wrong direction. Since then, most albums have had a least one cringer. It doesn't make the albums bad -- I think Grafitti Bridge itself is a great album in a lot of ways. But it does hinder the listening experience. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

air said:#1 Purple & Gold Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. It's funny because the original list has some of my favorite non-classic Prince tracks, if that makes sense: Eye Like It There, Loose!, Big Fun, Mr. Happy. Love them all.But hey, I think Mr. Goodnight is one of the better songs on one of his weakest albums (Planet Earth) so what do I know?As for Animal Kingdom - corny as a motherfucker but damn that's some funky funky blue cheese. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I agree with these choices.
"New Power Generation" is a very weak R&B song.I always felt that Prince needed a stronger, more powerful song to be the first performance scene in GB.
"The Latest Fashion" is a joke of a song. The lyrics make no sense. That little rap that Prince does near the end ("it's jacked....I'm back....and I'm harder than a heart attack") is embarrassing, lol.

Yeah,I don't like this song either.I feel the same way about "Style".These songs sound lazy and mediocre.

Not that many, as he sets the bar high. But occasionally a stinker gets through. In No order. . 1. Graffiti Bridge - Yuk, yuk, too cheesy by half. (Although Mavis Staples and most of the Time songs are pretty bad). 2. Jughead - What the honest fuck 3. Arrogance/ The Flow - wack ass Jams, with nxxxxr this and nxxxxr that thru them. 4. Solo - Aaarrrrgghhhh!!!! How did this self indulgent experiment get made 5. The Pope - Another wack ass rap 6. Props and Pounds - Just don't like it. 7. I Rock therefore I am - Parts are ok, but the Scrappy doo rap and the ragga shit with the condoms and bacardi lets party nonsense. 8. Face Down/ Da Da - Scrap D should have never come near Prince, makes Tony M look like Ice cube. 9. All of Newpower soul except Come On, The One and Wasted kisses - all shitty filler 10. All of the Darth Vader voices on The Rainbow children and the morose rap on Muse to the Pharoah. The rest of the album ain't that bad given the musicality and the superior ballads. 11. So Far so Pleased, sounds like very weak Roxette, I kind of like Gwen Stefani, but not this. 12. The Arms of Orion - Just pointless 13. Lemon Crush - Why is this song even on an album - yuk. 14. Purple and Gold - Shittiest shit he has ever shat out. 15. NEWS - Dull Album but not that bad, just a snore fest.
There are a lot of average/bad songs, but these ones are the cream of the cream of bad songs. But fortunately for every Face Down theres at least 20 Adore quality songs as well. I know I will get criticised for getting negative. But I really love the fact Prince has at least 500 great songs I listen to regularly and none in the last decade make the list. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I can't disagree with anyone's list in this thread. Every one of those songs are bad. Though I can't say anything good or bad about AOA because it's so cringe inducing, I can't even listen to it. But "Pussy Control" is the worst of all. I can't consider TGE a great album because this is the opening track.

Disc 2
One good track...on the second disc of Emancipation. The rest is pure mistreatment of ears and mind. Prince surely lost his way in that period. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence." - Carl Sagan

I almost say i'd rather have my teeth pulled, whitout anasthetic, than listen to that junk ever again...but I'm not that brave. But fuck me, that whole album was a disappointment...and the tracks on disc 2 are the worst: cheezy, gutcringing, utterly dimunitive to once manhood. If I'd want to punnish myself...that's the disc I'd choose.

Wow, I'm surprised for the dislike of the 2'nd disc of Emancipation. If you remove Sex in the Summer, Email & Let's Have a Baby I think it would be a stellar disc of ballads.
As far as the rest of the songs that have been mentioned, I can't really disagree. I would also add to that list Undisputed, Wherever U go Whatever U do, Everyday is a Winding Road, Wedding Feast, SST, United States of Division, 1999 The New Master and its 6 painful remixes, Gangster Glam, Clockin' the Jizz ... I could go on ... there are so many If a man is considered guilty

I'm surprised it took this long for somebody to defend Dead On It. Dead On It is a supremely funky song, one of his most funky instrumentals. But the lyrics are like somebody's out of touch dad complaining about "these kids today and their silly music." It's embarrassing. I did go back and listen to it today, and if you drop about three lines from it, then you have a good song. Dead On It, The Rainbow Children, Colonized Mind, and The Breakdown -- all great song butchered by a few awful lyrics. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"
