I thought that before TRC.
TRC gave me hope that he still had *something*, but Xpectation cemented that. As long as he doesn't go chasing after the teen pop market again like he did with Rave, he could come up with something worthwhile. Whether that's what critics want is another issue entirely. Critics seem to respect the fact he is a talented musician and artist, yet they want something commercial from him. I dunno, I can see the dicotomy, and there is one, but would you rather have Rave or Xpectation? --------------------

I think his best days --whatever that means-- had gone, o.k., but he will do a lot of work in the future which is worth waiting for.

On The Jay Leno Show, singing "Everlasting Now" Prince sang in the song "you gotta flip me over", I think he MEANT it, and there will be another side to his talents. I think there will be new music. I hope so, what would we do without it. Much love and for peace! [This message was edited Thu Mar 20 9:12:59 PST 2003 by naturegirl]

I have weighed this in the past also ... but i agree with alot of u ... and my only additional thought is ... that Prince has positioned himself for the long haul ... lets face it ... the last couple of years ... he hasnt had a record deal ... really ... and still remained pretty much --- around ... in the spot light ...
a comment u hear from alot of people is ... "hes doing his own thing ... " if he doesnt get a major record deal ... maybe a "comeback" will be tough ... but I think that Prince realizes it ... and why do u think he was at the Clive Davis thingy a couple of weeks ago ... sooner or later ... 'hes gonna explode' ... just my thoughts ...

A pure genius musician like Prince is never over. He will have a long career and has much more to offer his true fans. He may not win anymore awards or have hits on all the crappy radio stations, but he will always make beautiful music. Those that appreciate real music by real musicans will buy it and love it. The rest of you can just turn on MTV.

Yes, I agree. But, I would still love Prince to make a commercial comeback. It would show everyone that ever doubted him. It would draw attention to the music he is making and has made since '96. It would cement his position in the rock and roll hall of fame. And besides, I don't think trying to have a smash hit would do the music any harm. In the 80's, trying to become a superstar pushed Prince to make 'Purple Rain'. ********************************************

State ur opinion here about the future and the music! I think that he may just be taking a ling break. Alot of musical artists do this and have the fans think that they are done. I think he may have something ammazing when he comes back into the light. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

still talking about a Career nearly 30 Years later isn't hardly over but for Me personally He hasn't that certain Spark He once did in His work for way over a Decade for me.but the Cat if nothing else can still take it to the stage&has nothing to prove.but I think He does need a Challenge to see If He can Hit again in a way because there is always gonna be that what if element? He is too Big of a Artist to be just known On-Line&still to Young to be considered Past His Prime.so Hopefully there will be a Happy Medium somewhere there??I prefer His Older Stuff far more&always probably will unless I hear something new that knocks me out&it's been years since He has done that but He still has it on Stage&Keeps you interested if nothing else. mistermaxxx

!!Agreed!! People now adays don't seem to know what "real" music is these days. They just think that using a voice box helps everything and should be used all the time. It is nice every once in a while, but I would much rather hear the genious behind the true voice. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

I saw the true fan thing mentioned again. Can we please get passed that. Not everything he does is brilliant and has to be supported as if it is. Even if you are a 'true' fan you are allowed to have an opinion.
You know how he thinks about fan(atics) Ich bin bei der Neue Kraft Bewegung

Is Prince Over? How can anyone ever ask such a silly question?
There are not many true Artist around today and I don't think that there has been many artist in the past. I know a lot of people are considered Artist now that there careers have ended. We now look back and say they were great, that is how we pay respect to the ones that paved the way. But if you wanted to keep it real you would realize that Prince is one of the Few Artist that have ever existed, his music in the past was way ahead of his time and his music today is way ahead of its time. 10 years from now the world will talk about his 90's music and say how ground breaking and extra ordinary it really was. Every Artist's dream is to get to a point in their careers where they can make the kind of music that is in there hearts. It takes years of growing to come to that point, Prince is at that point now, He makes the music that he wants, not what his fans or the radio programmers want. There are very few people that have done that and was still loved and accepted. I hear all the talk about Prince not being the Artist he was 15 years ago, and that is true, he is not because he is better now than he was 15 years ago. The problem is we are still the same we were 15 years ago. We don't want change, we want the same ole thing that made us happy then. Prince has grown and is still growing, I don't know of anyone that can and has kept my interest for 25 years. Prince has and that alone says how great he is. Is Prince Over? Not by a long shot, as long as I get to hear songs like Avalanche, or Wasted Kisses, or maybe Muse to the Pharoah, or 5 women, or I don't know why I want that Girl? Then I will be happy for the next 25 years. And I will tell the generation then that they don't know what real music is until they have listened to a guy name Prince from way back in the 80's, 90's and 2000's. How you gonna get my back when you fronting.
