I think Kiss is..?
It's probably Wendy. Not because of the video. At least the first half.
I agree it's maybe him on the second half, with the wah-wah.
But it does not sound like his type of playing. Wendy's solo on Waterfall is pretty impressive, even for a fuzz tone. And you can hear how much she knows her axe on every Parade Tour recording.
Don't forget that it's her on the rythm guitar on Irresistible Bitch and Possessed, on the 1985 Syracuse live.
I don't buy this myth of him re-recording every session of every song by himself after the Revolution is out of the studio. There are Prince alone-in-the-studio recordings, and genuine Revolution recordings. The same goes for the NPG.
Never heard that Wendy was invoved on Kiss. What do you consider the first half of the solo? The chicken grease? The solo on Waterfall sound nothing like the solo on Kiss. And Wendy's playinbg on the Parade tour isn't impressive at all. Miko does all the cool stuff. There's a reason he was brought on board. Wendy coudn't keep up. The wooh is on the one! |

Just My Imagination from the Small Club is, was, and always will be the best. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

I wasn't being nasty as I didn't know. Regardless they are my favourite solos from his work. He can wail away on guitar but I don't find his solos structured or tuneful. Not to my ears anyway |

Wendy gets credit for half of everything great before 1986 for some reason |

I still say Xogenous is the most overlooked solo because it is straight jazz and on the Xpectation album |

Just to add a few: Morning Papers, Live 4 Love, I Will, 5 Women, I Wish U Heaven, Shhh
I had forgotten about Morning Papers - neat solos all through that track.
And I'm going to add my name to the list of people in love with the end solo on Another Love.
Whenever I want to really knowledge someone on Prince's solo skills, I give them a copy of Creep live at Coachella. |

Oh well, you're probably right. I guess we'll never know what "Produced, Composed, Arranged & Performed by Prince and The Revolution" really means.
I like to think that Wendy & Lisa contributions were more than just exposing him to classical music or other influences.
The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose

Empty Room from C-NOTE will always be my favorite solo. Pure emotion. And while it's not technically a solo, P's work on the song Plectrum Electrum is fantastic. I'm not a fan of Donna's style and them playing together on the same track just highlights why. |

Thank you! Also, I forgot to add 'She Spoke To Me'. Some people say, though, that the guitar isn't Prince on that song. |

Go ahead and think it - but it just isnt so. Hell, on the topic of guitar solos, Dez Dickerson was probably the best influence from a collaborator/associate/band member. |
