Best Guitar Solos - Revisited?

So, does any of PE's solos crack the top 10 prince guitar solos list?

Also, can we tell which ones are Prince's and which are Donna's?

My offhand top 10 is - in no particular order -

Let's go Crazy

Gold

I could never take the place of your man

Gold

Shes always in my hair (extended)

The Ride (alhtough not the CB version necessarily)

Purple Rain

The Question of U

Joy in Repetition

When u were mine

right now I dont think any of PEs solos can top these but i like the one on "Another Love" best, wonder if its Prince.

On a side note Dez's solo on LRC is also pretty great.

The title track is right up there with the best of them.

"Witness" has some SICK guitar work, though it's buried in the mix.

Batdance is a quick, yet funky hard solo.

The end solo on Another Love is off the chain.

All time favourite is the solo at the end of Mavis' Time Waits 4 No One.

honestly i can't remember any of the guitar solos on pe .. i know its supposed to be guitar rock n all but prince has never been known for memorable solos .. pr was great .. lets go crazy is just all fluff and not much substance .. lrc was a real solo with hook but that was dez .. my kinda prince guitar is like what i was jamming today .. the feline rehearsal .. the man goes off on guitar pretty good during that ...

The (guitar synth) solo in 1+1+1 is 3 is one of his sickest, accompanied by his own tight rhythm playing.

You are sleeping on the diversity and range of Prince guitar skills if you are not digging the solo on Xogenous (from the Xpectation album for those lightweights who dont know or havent heard it). If yo didnt think Prince could play real jazz, go cue up this bit of guitar artistry.

The greatest Prince solo has to be While My Guiat GEntly Weeps fromthe ROck n Roll Hall of Fame performance. Right after that, I like Bambi from the UNdertaker movie - I have the japanese laserdisc which has digital sound and it is my fav air guitar workout.

Buried in the mix? You need to get the homemade deluxe version, mastered from vynil.
And then crank your speakers.

I assume everyone refers to "Just My Imagination", the Netherlands '88 aftershow?

It must be one of his greatest out-of-body experiences, no doubt.

But there are a bunch of "Shh" live versions out there that are insane.

I think we should distinguish live solos from studio solos.

Because if we take the live road, then there's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", and tons of "The Cross" and "Purple Rain" solos that obliterate anything he's ever done on record.

The Shhh guitar solo from Coahella is amazing. In my opinion, his best preformance of the song ... especially the ending.

It's probably Wendy. Not because of the video. At least the first half.

I agree it's maybe him on the second half, with the wah-wah.

But it does not sound like his type of playing. Wendy's solo on Waterfall is pretty impressive, even for a fuzz tone. And you can hear how much she knows her axe on every Parade Tour recording.

Don't forget that it's her on the rythm guitar on Irresistible Bitch and Possessed, on the 1985 Syracuse live.

I don't buy this myth of him re-recording every session of every song by himself after the Revolution is out of the studio. There are Prince alone-in-the-studio recordings, and genuine Revolution recordings. The same goes for the NPG.
