who has actually bought the prince albums here?

with the collapse of album sales worldwide ...prince's art offical age album is reported to have sold only 6000 copies in the uk in its first week...compared to 39,000 for 3121 in its first week in 2006..this is still remarkably low number considering prince sold well over 100,000 concert tickets recently at an average price of 90 pounds in the uk in the summer .

.

would like to ask here if you actually bought the album or did you just listen to it from spotify or another streaming service ?...or just downloaded it from the internet ?..be honest please..

.

i downloaded it before release date to listen to them but i bought both albums from amazon once released because i always want to have the cds in my collection.

I've downloaded both of them. I like to evaleuate the worth of a product before purchasing.

I won't be paying $20 each for them. So I'll wait until they're at a more fair price for me.

I bought each of them on 26 of september.

In the USA, the albums costs 10 dollars, it would have been fair if it was sold no more than that in other countries. Espacially when you know there is no booklet on AOA, the price is pure thievery outside the US.

I bought both albums in the first week, but I think music sales are continually declining for everybody out there at the moment... I'd assume... Id liek to know what the big sellers are selling these days though.

It was the price that stopped me from getting both the albums. So I bought AOA at my local wrecka stow. Judging from the PE songs I've heared so far
, I can live without it.

I pre-ordered mine from Warners. I still prefer a physical copy - however I was very disappointed with the poor (cheap) packaging, especially AOA without an accompanying booklet. Good job the content made up for it biggrin

To paraphrase someone:

i downloaded it before release date to listen to them but i bought both albums from WB pre-order wesbite once released because i always want to have the cds in my collection.

+ Still have pending preorders for teh vinyl versions on Amazon UK and Amazon France.

[AOA looks like it could use a 'deluxe edition' in the next 3 or 4 months]

With more and more people downloading music for free I wonder how long will we be able to purchase our music in physical formats.

"I like to evaluate the worth of a product before purchasing" Yeah, sure "I'll wait until they're at a more fair price for me"

Whatever!. So, if I go to your restaurant, would you let me go without paying? You know, if someday you decrease your prices, I'll return and pay my debt. Promise

I bought the CDs on pre-order from Amazon.

Downloaded the files to listen to at midnight of the release date,

the CDs arrived a day later.

I'm an adult with a job. So yes, I bought them. $10 barely gets you lunch nowadays. Its not too much to ask for an album.

Bought them twice actually. iTunes pre-order, then picked up CD copies on the day of release. I don't mind. In years past I've picked up multiple physical copies of all of his post-WB albums because who knows how long they will be in print, in case something happens to my main copy.

Common...How would you expect someone to buy AOA when you weight the packaging the moment you take it in your hand to watch the tracklist ?...Oh well that's true, there is not even a tracklist...

No tracklist

No booklet

No video

No deluxe content

No bonus content

No jewel case

No single on radio

No tv performance

No tour

No promotion made by Prince, in any fucking way.

Even the greatest hits doesn't sell anymore

2/3 of the 3121 sales were made on the first week. We may guess the total sales of AOA in UK will never exceed 10.000 copies. Surely next week it will be out of the top 40, like 3121, and the latter benefited from a lot of promotion.

$10? That's like €7... We pay three times as much here in Holland!

Downloaded "preview copies" both 5 days before they went on sale. wink

Bought both at Best Buy the morning of release.

Will buy AOA on vinyl, probably PE also, when/if ever released...

I will always by physical copies of Prince's releases.

I was happy with $10 a piece, but, the last album(s) for sale here were 3 albums in one for $11.99 at Target, so...

That, and anyone in the US who wants vinyl will probably be paying $25-$35 for each. If we get the opportunity.

Keep dreaming...

The vinyl market is, what ? 3 % of the total market ?

3 % of 6.000 copies in the UK, second best selling market, is about 200 copies. You really think WB is gonna invest in vinyl, even if nobody cares about the actual release ? No way.

Moreover, Prince will never publish any new album in the future on the physical format. Who would be so crazy to sign him again ?

I considered getting them for nothing, but I wanted to support him and so decided against it. I bought the WAVs for both albums from the website.

I downloaded both for free to decide whether I like them or not. Then I bought 2 copies of Plectrum Electrum, because it's a good record. And I will buy the vinyl of PE as a christmas gift for myself.

AOA is the first prince album I will not buy, because it's not that great and contains the 3 worst songs prince has ever recorded. I erased the mp3's from my computer.

I, and I assume other supporters of the physical market, would happily pay $20 for a physical copy. I'd probably even pay more.

How bout this: If AOA had been $30 on CD or $10 digital, I would have still bought the CD. I support Prince and I support physical formats. Digital files have no real lasting value to me.
