anotherlove. Been waiting 20 years for this! First, I FKUCING love this track Sorry, but sometimes profanity is called for Second, this has got to be the first Pop Rock track in years that Prince hasn't messed up or dumbed down in the studio. This is the real deal. When you think about some of the great tracks P has killed in the studio ( Endorphine Machine, Fury, Chaos and DIsorder, and on and on) it's a miricale that this track got released in such a wonderful state. I'm very grateful and hope Prince releases more songs in this production style.

It's good and I agree. It's not watered down, which makes it great. But he's had a few. Crimson & Clover, Dreamer, Colonized Mind....

That Prince version of 'Another Love', is a cover of Alice Smith's song 'Another Love' from her 'She' album.

It is EPIC... especially at the "...but I'm the greatest soul you'll ever know..." climax. This is one of my top cuts from both albums. "He's a musician's musician..."

Prince added one verse,so he cowritten the lyrics ,changed the vocal melody and harmony of the song i would say that Princes versiojn is a new song inspired and featuring some lyrics from Alices song

Wasn't there more than one verse added? The lines that begin with "You used to think I was so much fun, now I'm just the guilty one..." aren't on the Alice Smith song, are they?

One of the best cover versions he´s ever done. It would´ve been nice though if he´d mentioned Alice Smith in the liner notes. He´s the one who constantly complains about other people covering his songs, so it´s only fair to at least mention that it´s someone else´s song. I like the original version, too, but Prince´s version is musically like a whole different song. The lyrics seem to hint at Andy Allo (that same clothes, same hair lyric, etc.).
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Cant even call it a cover as it's so far removed from the original! [Edited 10/4/14 2:25am]

I could see why Prince and other artists, appreciates her talent. It's a nice song and there is nothing wrong with different strokes, for different folks. [Edited 10/4/14 3:21am]

Alice Smith is credited in the Plectrum Electrum booklet.

SquirrelMeat said: Yep that is her. I have been listening to her music since 2006. She was a surprise guest at Liv and Shelby's show at City Winery in NYC last year. I met her after the show and spoke with her for 2 minutes, to compliment her on her performance. She was very kind. Beautiful and powerful voice. She is married to musician, Citizen Cope. This is him in the pic below. Anyway, both (Prince and Alice's) versions' of 'Another Love' are nice. [Edited 10/4/14 7:48am]

I love this track. It's a reminder how Prince can really slay you with his vocals. The way his delivery drags the beat makes you feel the emotion he's portraying. What a pro.

Just listened to this track several times, because it is that good. The guitar playing is amazing. I can't get any work done listening to this track. It's that good. Nice, slowed-down version. This track and Plectrum Electrum is the best on the PE album. I'm surprised he didn't put Another Love on the AOA cd though. [Edited 10/5/14 14:38pm]

Of all the output of songs from 2013 - 2014 Another Love is without a doubt my favorite song.

Agreed. But the fact that it's a cover is a little telling/sad.

Probably because most fans are used to Prince doing originals, yet he's recently done covers of other artists' songs, like 'Crimson and Clover', and others. The thing with this cover, is that it is slowed-down version, and the guitar solo in it, is a major difference from Alice's original. If anyone is not aware of Alice's original, then they more than likely wouldn't have issue with Prince's version. I listen to Prince's version more than Alice's original, and I'm a big fan of Alice's music. I like both versions. If find it to be the best track on PE, other than the single Plectrumelectrum. I could see version played on various radio stations for its funk-rock flavored vibe. That guitar solo in that track is awesome.

Gotta co-sign. This song is killer! I haven't randomly sang a new Prince song to myself in a long while. But today I found myself at work and under my breath singing, "If you don't like it round hee-aah..." Mmm, such a great tune. I wish u heaven
