Who paid for Paisley Park to be built?

I searched but didn't see a topic.

Is there an old thread with any info?

Thanks if you know.

I'm sure that also means we paid for Tony M, and all other things bad. At least with Paisley, we got some celebrations. We probably got the best part of the deal. Prince blew most of the money.

From what I've read it was part prince, part WB, even though it was contractually clear from the begining that it was prince's sole property. Reportedly part of the reason why some outside artists recorded in PP in the late 80's/early 90's is because WB forced prince's hand to give free studio time in order for them to get something back for their investment, and prince was reported to have been upset about it and this would explain why he's totally closed the studio to outside artists since 95, because he never intended to open it to outsiders in the first place. I don't know how much of this is true, though, cuz several non-WB artists also booked the studio between 89 and 95, so obviously it wasn't just WB forcing prince's hand.

/. Not sure about him not wanting outside artist using it. Movie studios did work there and other artist have recorded and used the rehearsal area long after the WB years.

Then we should pitch in for a renovation, because is it just me or does the place look like it's in need of a update? I found it too dark and dreary, kind of outdated it seems.

Prince may not have wanted other artists (besides his proteges) to use Paisley Park Studios, but that was the only way to make Paisley Park profitable. The whole thing cost $10 million to build.

A high school friend of mine recorded an album at Paisley after winning a local battle of the bands contest back in '94 or '95. He said it was pretty badass.

Well for sure it was bulit with prince's money and most likely some of WB's money as well - possibly as part of their joint venture with the PP label if not directly as part of their advances to prince. There couldn't have been any other investor in the project, so I guess your original question has been answered. I'm sure some here have more detailed info about how much was paid by prince and how much by WB, but it's those 2 for sure.

Don't overestimate yourself.
Other than paying taxes no one forced you to buy any Prince related items.
Or do u also say your employer is paying your livelihood?
Sounds like your work is worth nothing and u your income is a present.

Really? Have you seen the inside? Thats part of the beauty of the place, the outside looks like a standard industrial park office complex. The inside is like Prince's own little wonderland.
