sometimes I wonder if people still have ears. That song sounds like nothing either on the radio or "in da clubs". Its a fairly awful Princey sonic mash-up (unlike batdance which was actually kinda fun) that sounds more like "Thunder" than anything released in 2014, or 2000 for that matter.

I dont think its sarcastic or a critique of anything. Its just a bad sonic experiment where prince thought he had sometihng clever to say with the "art official" play on words which he even took to a meta level with "Cage" instead of "Age" which means nothing to 99.9% of the planet.

But I can't stop digging it.

I don't mind that track myself but it absolutely SHOULD NOT be a single. The cheesy intro is so cringey, yet I don't mind it because it's Prince and I know he's taking the piss. To someone who isn't a fan it would sound like the saddest attempt to make current sounding track ever.

It is catchy though. I find myself singing it to myself, even though I truly dislike that song. The rhythm kinda gets to you. But the title "Art Official Cage" is sucha non-starter. "PretzylBodyLogic", "The Gold Standard", "The Greatest Romance That's Ever Been Sold"... has anyone ever tried to have a hit with those titles? Like, MJ had to go with "This Place Hotel" so as not to be confused with Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel". Was Prince like, "Damn. Art Official Age is taken. I've got to call it Art Official Cage"?

Jackson didn't HAVE to chance the name of his song. He opted to in order to avoid confusion. Titles have little impact D'angelo had a worldwide hit with a song called untitled. Prince had a hit song with the title Sexy MotherFucker.
