Well its AOA however there is just too much slow stuff on that album, WAY too much, i find myself skipping tracks already where as I can get through PE. However the strongest on AOA is far stronger than on PE. I think the strongest track across both albums is AnotherLove, its timeless and just sounds absolutely amazing, I've been listening to it over and over and over.
AOA is the stronger of the two records in terms of songs. But, in terms of sound and production PlectrumElectrum is far superior... listened to both records through studio monitors and PlectrumElectrum just sounds phenomenal.
Both records have decent strengths. Comercially, AOA takes it... Musically and from a sound perspective, PlectrumElectrum smashes it.
I really wish Art Official Cage wasn't on AOA, regardless of the intended sarcasm, which I absolutely understand - it's an awful sounding song. The album would've been a lot better starting with Clouds, a track I really rate.
These are just my condensed notes anyway. [Edited 10/1/14 17:22pm]

So far Plectrum Electrum is better than Art Official Age.

Very clearly Plectrum Electrum. Many more strong songs on the set with fewer clunkers. AOA is also bogged down by a shit ton of ballads or snoozy R&B lite jamz. Plectrum has ferocity, attitude, and turned that horrible Funknroll song into something tolerable.

Plectrumelectrum v AOA? I don't know about that. But in the AOA v Plectrumelectrum thread it was about 2:1 in favour of AOA. RIP

2 vey different listening experiences. I prefer AOA as it makes me invest in the listening experience more and I find it hard to concentrate on doing other things whilst it is on, whereas with PE I can just put the album on and carry on doing whatever I am doing.

AOA Prince 4Ever. | |

AOA has one or two classic tracks but plectrum electrum is a far superior album and just seems to work much better as an album you can listen to. The concept of AOA seems to suffer from trying too hard, but it does have some genuinely interesting and deep moments. plectrum has the songs that stick in my head, and I don't skip tracks on it. Also sounds amazing loud, and reminds me of how good these tracks sounded live. All in all feels like the energy Prince has now. Feels like he put AOA into the mix to see how it would compete. Prince is like a one man parliament vs funkadelic. He's the new George Clinton...just without an army of 30 funkateers in tow!

take off stop this train /boy trouble /tictactoe and replace by gold standard/breakdown/way back home and u have a phenomenal album.

As a whole I prefer AOA.
However I feel Another Love is the best song among the two albums.

I think "stopthistrain" & "tictacktoe" are solid midtempo numbers.i don't get the dislike for those songs BOB4theFUNK

AOA I agree. AOA all the way. I like a lot of stuff on PE, but AOA floors me. I think it's his best since TGE and possibly Symbol. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Flat songs : u know, art offical cage The gold standard is just okay Breakfast can't wait is okay.. "clouds" has no strong hook to it. "The breakdown" is decent.. Way back home & time only songs that stand out to me Prince hasn't had an album blow me away since "Sign o' the times"..i'm one of the few that really liked "Emancipation"..that 2nd cd so heartfelt.. The human body & sleep Around are better than Anything on AOA..the holy river was good.. AoA is just okay..nowhere near his top 10 Best albums of all time BOB4theFUNK

AOA is too slow. There needs to be some fast tunes to bring variety. If you like it slow, this is for u. But if u like it fast, PE is for u. I like it fast,so PE for me.

Plectrum vs AOA is like Chaos & Disorder vs Emancipation
both irrelevant, but at least one of them provides some fun and enjoyment...

Same here. It's the first album he's done in yonks that isn't bogged down by the weight of musicianship. I don't understand how folk aren't frothing over Way Back Home, it's beautiful and ethereal. The gobsmacker of the album for me. U Know, This Could Be Us, The Gold Standard, Time, Breakdown are top notch. After years of dissatisfaction I was not expecting this. Feel like a new fan again. New Power...slide! don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....
